Beautiful setting and the place to see birds. The rooms were cozy, the restaurant was excellent, and the view spectacular. Expect somewhat chilly nights, but crisp, clear air.

The hotel had the most wonderful surroundings, stunning mountains and beautifully cared for gardens. The room was clean and spacious and the communal bar and restaurant areas were really peaceful and comfortable. Special mention goes to the staff, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The cabin is beautiful and in a lovely location. Quiet at night and in the morning, with just the sound of nature. The beds are comfortable and plenty of blankets available. The open fire is also lovely. The cabin is spacious and cosy. Internet was also good as was the TV.

El Toucanet is a delightful small hotel in the mountains with rustic cottages and a spacious, beautiful restaurant overlooking a garden. Moises, at the desk, was a gracious and caring host, as was the kitchen staff. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Navigation is a must, as the hotel is about 30 minutes from the Pan American Hwy (Hwy 2) - absolutely worth the effort to get there. The sunny morning at breakfast with windows open and many species of hummingbirds feeding was most memorable.

Chalet Mira Cumbres is set in Rivas. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the holiday home free of charge. The property is non-smoking and is situated 13 km from Cerro de la Muerte.

Perfect tiny house perched at +2000m high in the mountains with an unbeatable view on the valley below all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Hard to beat if you want some quiet, or hike in the mountains. It's small but functionnal, clean, with proper hot water and easy access. The hosts live nearby and have been very responsive. Pura Vida!

To keep it short, stay here and you'll never want to leave again. The cabin sits on the edge of the mountain and has an amazing view over the valley and the surrounding nature. A nearby stream runs through the blackberry fields and when the clouds circle the cabin, the fire keeps you warm and toasty. I could go on forever about each delicious meal brought to our doorstep, the shower which competes with 5* Hotel showers (and would win), the people living in the nearby pueblo and the nature which reminds me so much of the alpes. Erlyn and his fairy helpers made our stay pure enjoyment!! I will be back, probably when it is time to harvest wild blueberries :)
