Superb Guest House at the Elephantile island in a Nubian village setting, across the Ferry from KFC,10 mts, then 10 mts walk, Modern rooms, very clean, superb garden setting, great wall nubian paintings, magical terrace sit out, all very colourfully lit. since no vehicles of any type, very quiet. big room tastefully furnished, powerfull shower. booked group Van tour with the Guest house for Abu Simbel. Best part of our stay, two dinners & one lunch we had at King Jamaica restaurant, on River, where the jetty lands for the island ie 10 mts walk. superb Nile views, great Fish & succulent beef meals. No alchohol, value for money, great music.

Everything is INCREDIBLE! You have to stay here if you want peace, really good food, place out of this world. People are very friendly, the owner welcome to us and explain a lot of great details from the place. We didn’t eat and he offer us the best meal we ever had from their garden. We leave very early to our cruise and they arrange the transport and also give us a lunch box. We hope we can come back soon. The view of our room was amazing, we love every detail from the room. The bed was very comfortable!

I arrived here at midnight, and the staff warmly assisted me in catching a boat to the hotel, as it is located on a small island opposite the city. This place is peaceful and picturesque. I was a little sceptical about the near perfect reviews this place has, until we had the pleasure of spending our time there. Kafana is a wonderful honest host, who works extraordinary hard to ensure your comfort and enjoyment. The place is literally next to the river on the beautiful elephantine island (easy to get back and forth from the mainland via guesthouse private motorboat) and attached is a fantastic restaurant. Forgo hotels or 5 star resorts - if you can stay here, do it!

Very welcoming hosts. Family business. Very unique setting away from the crowds of the east bank. Absolutely DELICIOUS meals with accomodation for vegetarian. (Would also suit vegan). Very easy walk to the local ferry which runs regularly from early to late (we never waited more than 5-10mins) and hosts offered private boat for reasonable price when we needed a 3am ferry. Hosts are helpful for arranging tours to all the local attractions. Would definitely recommend to any travellers who prefer avoiding cities and staying somewhere unique. We only stayed 2 nights as we were low on time but I would recommend staying longer. We have been travelling for 6 months and this was one of the accomodation highlights.
