The hosts are a wonderful family, super friendly and helpful. They built those beautiful apartments nearby the river allowing visitors to be in the centre of the rainforest. The river is quite loud so one needs to hear that in mind but I personally loved it, such closeness to nature.

Location, food, nature, people. Everything was absolutely fantastic! First of all, we were in the jungle, close to plantations with rice fields in which peacocks live (!). It looks amazing. Nelum organized a trip to the jungle for us. His brother Achi was a great guide so we saw a lot of animals: hanging parrots, kingfishers, monkesy, snakes, spiders, chameleons, lizards and a civet (!) on the terrace. The sounds of chipmunks, birds, monkeys and an elephant (?) woke us up in the morning. Sinharaja Rest offers really delicious food. Don't hesitate to buy dinners even if you bought BB only. One more thing: the hotel is built on the rock which can be seen inside!!!

Our stay at the edge of Sinharaja Rainforest was absolutely amazing! The accommodation offers breathtaking views from the balcony, where we could enjoy the beauty of both the lush rainforest and expansive rice fields. He took us on a guided tour through the rainforest, sharing his vast knowledge of the area’s flora, fauna, and hidden gems. It was an unforgettable experience, walking through the vibrant trails and discovering the wonders of Sinharaja. Amazing location in green area. We spotted several animals while just sitting on the balcony (including monkeys, peacocks and kingfisher). The owners are very friendly and helpful, they made our stay very comfortable.

The property was located in outskirts of Sinharaja Rainforest, which is a great surrounding. The owner, Sarath, was specifically helpful with everything and his kind wife provided us with hot water for our 4 months old puppy.

The host Buddhika is a very gracious host, we were able to see his tea fields and were welcomed in his house, he even made us homemade drinks and talked about the different kinds of plants in his garden. The pick up service was excellent and he helped us to get on the right bus. The two cottages are very beautiful, equipped with everything you need (best ac so far in Sri Lanka) and have a very peaceful view of the lake, in a short walking distance is a spot to swim. It’s near the street, which you can sometimes hear. Buddhika prepared very delicious dinners for us and provided everything we needed and more whilst being respectful of our privacy. We took a trip to sinharaja national park (1h by car and then 3-4hours in the park with a guide) for a very reasonable price and again Buddhikas service was exceptional! On the way to matara we wanted to buy some tea and he took us to his family’s factory and we got a free tour and an interesting tasting. All in all we had a great stay and a very peaceful and calming experience!
