Residence Porto Ulisse is surrounded by tropical gardens on the west coast of Calabria. It offers a rooftop terrace with bar, a swimming pool and a small hydromassage pool overlooking Tropea and the Mediterranean Sea. The accommodation was very clean, with housekeeping tidying the rooms every day. We had a ground-floor apartment facing the garden, so it was nicely shaded. The air conditioning was only in the hallway (kitchen), but it managed to cool both bedrooms—though it was necessary to keep the doors to both bedrooms open at night. The staff were very friendly and kind, and the bar had good prices. The pool was clean, with stunning views of the sea and, in the distance, the smoking volcano Stromboli. It’s about a 10–15 minute walk to the center of Tropea. You can also take a taxi or call an Uber. The nearby beaches were clean with excellent water quality. Breakfast was not included in our stay—we didn’t mind, as our children don’t eat much in the morning. For dinner, there was a pizzeria just behind the house, or restaurants in the center of Parghelia or Tropea. It’s a great location for many trips around the area, including excursions to Sicily and Mount Etna (by car). We would definitely like to return next year. We stayed in the apartment for a total of 9 nights. Many thanks to Aldo for the hospitality :)

Private parking is available on site at this recently renovated property. The accommodation offers a sauna, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms. Completely renovated interior, camouflaged in an old palazzo. Very close to the historic center and the beautiful river Crati. Every little detail taken care of by Luka, our refined host who proposed and got us reservation for a great restaurant. I have to give him credit also for the 3 step breakfast : in the room, in the premises and at a nearby cafe. We travel by motorcycle and he provided us with a safe space to park.
