The 4.9 rating is justified. The outside is a nice looking place but the inside is completely covered in graffiti, not bad but very distracting. Even the old bed frames are covered. The room was astonishingly bare. As the cheapest place in Rioja, he gets away with charging over 19,000 pesos, which is very expensive for a hostel. The room had no windows and was very dark and stifling. I slept with the lights on and an eye mask. I arrived at 2330 and left at 6am. I couldn't bear to stay a 2nd night.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Chakana Hospedaje Rural. The whole team was super friendly. Belén gave us a very warm welcome and showed us around. Our room, the outdoor facilities and the communal area were beautifully and colourfully decorated and everything was clean. You can feel at home in the common room and help yourself to the equipment. We could have cooked for ourselves, but decided to have our meals cooked for us for a change. The chef Franco even conjured up vegetarian menus for us. He cooks with a lot of passion and you can taste it. The breakfast included in the price was very tasty. Cinthia served us coffee, tea, freshly squeezed orange juice, toast with jam and homemade cake. The village of Bandana Florida next to Villa Union is very authentic. We took a trip to Talampaya National Park, 45 minutes away, and spent the rest of the day by the pool. If you would like to go on excursions in the region, for example to Laguna Brava, you can ask Natalia for the relevant contacts. Many thanks to Natalia and her great team for this relaxing stay!

Terrible place. Totally unsuitable for Winter. Cold as a freezer, we didn’t have any water in the morning!!, the place is remote, abandoned, the owner doesn’t live there. No services around. The owner’s response to our problems was as arrogant as his pricing for this dump. He claimed that the water cut-off was due to extraordinary conditions, but the weather was just the common -3 for the season. He doesn’t live there, so he doesn’t know. Worst night of our three-week trip in Argentina. Stay away from this place!! Amigos: Alejate de este lugar!!

Fantastic location, the only hotel so close to three spectacular national/provincial parks. A very professional guide, Laura, offers guided 2,5 h walks to the nearby El Chiflon park from the hotel, ask the reception. Restaurant available on the spot with good food and wide selection. Most generous breakfast we had during our trip. Very professional service, they will help you with whatever you need, always with a smile. Very flexible. Offers big parking with shade.

We loved our time here. The property is very big, with an amazing garden. Very nice helpful staff. The rooms are spacious, clean and modern, great showers and beds. Breakfast was ok, breads and jam/cream cheese Highly recommend!!

I was 25 years ago the first time in La Rioja.

I was 25 years ago the first time in La Rioja. The erosion did its job in the both provincies. The landscape in Talampaya and Ichigualasto changed a lot. But it was the nature... The friendliness of the people in La Rioja fortunately did not change. For me it is one MUST when you make trips in Argentina.
