New ZealandMy husband and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Churchill cabin, Access was easy and when we walked in it was like wow more than we expected it was absolutely lovely and clean,, the hosts provided more than we expected, the grounds and view were amazing and so private and quite , the location was superb. We even had a pair of magpies visit us each day that we could hand feed which was great. The heat pump was awesome to keep us cool and having a decent size fridge was great as well as a great rain head shower. We will be back at some stage and would love to stay here again. We recommend this place for either a single person or a couple you cant go wrong and at a great price

Hosts Debi and Russ were brilliant - very welcoming and lovely to have a chat with. Clear that they care about their guests, very happy to share information about the area and their experiences.
Most importantly, the apartment is spacious, well equipped, very clean and the bed is very comfy. Great choices for DIY breakfast.

Hervey Bay is the best place in the world to see Humpback...
Hervey Bay is the best place in the world to see Humpback Whales whether for the juvenials that are people curious (known as August whales) or the Mothers and Calves which arrive from early September through to the end of October. My focus is only on the whales but there are various trips to K'Gari (formerly Fraser Island) either by organised bus tours, self drive or by boat to the West side where kyaking and beach tours plus whale watching in season is available. So much history in Maryborough.
The military museum is one of the best in Australia.
The Gallipoli trail is a must.
The river is lovely and the town is peaceful but has everything you want for a few days to see all the history.

Loved our time on Fraser island ...took a beauty points all day tour which was informative and really enjoyable. ... also was able to take advantage of a flight from the beach over lake Mckenzie and the ocean edge.. saw many whales.. truly amazing! .Extended our stay to 6 nights.. great walks from the resort...our breakfast was included and was a very tasty hot buffet with many options... would definitely recommend Fraser island as a few days getaway.. only negative was the rooms weren't obviously soundproof and the people above us were a bit noisy at times

We had a long weekend but could easily have stayed a week and done more activities including whale watching and visiting K'gari Island. Hervey Bay is a relaxed place but we still found things to do and a few shops open on the Sunday. The long coastal beach and shaded track are perfect for walking or cycling to explore, including watching the sunset from the very long pier.

Love Burrum, love the river & the beach. Great fishing. during the day the facilities are good.
The only issue is the lack of a restaurant, or eating facilities at night.
Love that the pub has a courtesy bus, but food choice is very limited, & no entertainment. The bowls club was closed on a Sunday night, so the only choice was the pub. Food was good, but pricey & not much variety.

Clean and confortable with central location. Picked the Station Hotel for dinner and it was nice food (pub style food) and staff welcoming.
Do accept small to mdium dogs which was nice (we have one but not on this trip).
Outdoor amenities include outdoor kitchen and pool area. Kitchen location wasn't the best and looked like you would need to open it all up for guests rather than being readily available to quests. But it looked really usable. Pool area was less than inviting and looked uncared for.
We stayed a night so really good for that. But for a longer term stay the amentities may be lees then you were expecting.

Every 3rd Sunday of the month, they hold a Open Mic, myself being musical, actually went for this reason. Beautiful friendly people.
Take your time, meandering through the country roads, little towns of Gunalda, Theebine, Curra to explore on your way.
The drive was as much of my adventure, as my destination to the music.

the area was quiet and relaxing, fishing was great, loved throwing a line in from the front lawn, the home was 4 bedrooom, but only 3 available, we could have done with another double bed, the owners could maybe take over the 2nd tv room as we didnt use it, the home was advertised as airconditioned but this was only in the living area not in the bedrooms .the bedrooms would possibly be hot in summer.

I travelled to Hervey Bay for the Whale Watching and wasn't disappointed. I took three tours on three different boats and saw whales on all three outings, some very close to the boat. We also saw sea turtles, dolphins and sea birds. The weather was perfect, with mainly sunny days and light winds during my stay. Access from Brisbane was easy and the roads were good and well maintained. There are plenty of good food options and cafes opened early (5:30am near where I was staying) so you can grab a hearty breakfast early and head off for the day to maximise your time in the area. Recommended.
