This property is in a great location for exploring the island. You can see rock wallabies in the rocks at the end of the beach and koalas on the Forts walk just up the road. The rooms are great, really clean and comfortable. The Bikini bar next door does great food, the smashed avo toast is a breakfast fave.

After a week of running around sightseeing here and there, I arrived on Magnetic Island hoping most of all for rest and relaxation, and Tropical Palms was absolutely perfect for that! Rob welcomed me warmly in spite of my failure to properly communicate a late arrival, and gave lots of tips on where to go for walks to spot wildlife. My room was comfortable and clean, and overall the place was really lovely, laid-back and peaceful. I was glad I'd picked the location by Picnic Bay, which is probably the most quiet part of the island. There's nevertheless a nice selection of restaurants nearby, and a nice beach, and koalas live right next doors! Loved it!

My heart goes to the staff that welcomed from the first day. Fabio behind the counter able to work under pressure like a giant. Ilaria at the reception desk, managing the operations perfectly. Stella at the bar which always has a chat with the guests. The kitchen which prepared a perfect lunch with my allergens. The hostel has relaxed vibe, perfect to return after the day out and rest. The pool is awesome and refreshing, the kitchen and the bathroom well cleaned in a tropical climate. The wildlife is just amazing koalas, kangaroos and possums play under the birds all hours. Amazing the dormitory. Spacious and fine clean, with a genius keyless door. The big mango tree at the entrance really set the vibes. Hammocks, bean bags and couch do the rest. Inside the gates there is massive space with camping area and spaced cabins. You can get lost looking at the big palms or following a curlew. Will return

It was a very nice place to stay and offered easy access to the island and all main attractions. The appartment offers everything you need, including an amazing view over a small harbour and a part of the island. Lizzie, the manager, contacted us prior to our arrival, to make sure we will have easy access to the room and the parking garage. She was also very supportive during our stay and the check-out. Overall much appreciated from our end, We can only recommend this place, if you are looking for an amazing place to stay during your visit of Magnetic Island.

Staff friendly & couldn't have been more helpful with information about the Island, bus timetables etc. Also booked the sunset cruise for us. This place has a real resort feeling to it and we wish we could have stayed longer. Bus stop is a 2 minute walk away, and using the local bus is a cheap & easy way to travel between the bays.

Friendly people, particularly shop assistants, restaurant staff, cab drivers and bus drivers. Saltwater restaurant was excellent, with tables under the stars and efficient staff. The Boardwalk at Peppers was also excellent, the barramundi was delicious. I would recommend a visit to the Museum, which has historical information about the island, also handmade jewellery created by volunteers. The volunteers are also very knowledgeable about the Island's history.

Magnetic Island is beautiful with bush trails to many beaches and vantage points. The flora is wonderfully diverse with giant banyan trees, tropical plants, vines and gum trees - wild koalas are easy to spot on some of the trails. The vibe is low key and nicely humble and it's very easy to get to via Townsville and a short ferry ride. You don't need a car as the bus runs regularly across the island to all the best places. There are also plenty of options for scooter and jeep hire.

Arcadia is a great place to visit and to stay on Magnetic Island. The main beach, which is part of the Nature reserve, is lovely to walk around and also to see Rock Wallabies in the early evening. Alma Bay is particularly good for young children, with plenty of shade and grassy areas in addition to a small It's only a short walk in the the main centre at Nelly Beach, the Ferry Terminal and a well stocked supermarket and bottle shop.

Nelly Bay was beautiful but Magnetic Island was stunning and relaxing. We hiked to watch sunset, saw so much wildlife (a koala, echidna, wallaby, stingray, turtle) and the views and different beaches were all magnificent (Arcadia, Geoffrey Bay, Fort Walk, Nelly Bay). We took a car and it was the best decision as the bus service seemed to have quite a wait. Overall we loved Maggie Island, the getaway was just what I needed and I will definitely go back.

Of all the beautiful bays at Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay...

Of all the beautiful bays at Magnetic Island, Horseshoe Bay is by far the nicest one. It has great open views of the ocean, a long beach front with beautiful palms and trees providing the necessary shade, and a small but lively little boulevard with a well-assorted local Convenience Store, a few nice beachy shops and a good range of bars and restaurants that offer something for everyone. I specially recommend Barefoot Restaurant and Gallery, which is something you might not expect on a location like this, but they have some beautiful artwork and their food is truly exceptional. All in all, Horseshoe Bay just has that nice chilled island vibe that you're looking for on your vacay.

By taking our car over on the barge we could travel around the island to the different beaches. It has some lovely places to see, some can only be accessed by car. The bus service appeared popular with people to get around the main three bays on the island. Great relaxing holiday destination.

Horseshoe Bay is at the northern end of Magnetic Island.

Horseshoe Bay is at the northern end of Magnetic Island. It’s not as windy as some of the other bays. And it’s a good spot to do walks from, like the Forts Walk. There is a long stretch of beach to walk on and explore. And lots of water activities to enjoy.
