Having lived in Cairns previously and now return regularly...
Having lived in Cairns previously and now return regularly to see family and friends, while there is a lot about the crime there in the media, i have never experienced it myself. It is important to lock your car and be aware of your surroundings and not flash money or personal wealth around, but i dont think this problem is any worse then anywhere else. The climate is great, and even if it rains, it is warm rain and soon dries. Great opportunitues to see the reef and rainforest. Prices are geared towards tourists so wouldnt do these tours too often, but for a lifetime experience, they are good.Guest review byDianneAustralia - 10.0
I can understand why this is a busy holiday destination!
I can understand why this is a busy holiday destination! Beautiful town with great restaurants and a superb 4 mile long beach (subsequently named ;-)). The town has such a relaxed feel about it and one could easily laze away the day at a cafe or beach, or take a ship and go out to explore the reef! I will definitely head back for a longer stay in the future!Guest review byDelanoSouth Africa - 10.0

Palm Cove is beautiful and super clean, every morning workers are picking up rubbish, clearing leaves, sweeping drains and making sure its super tidy for the guests enjoying the area. We were most impressed and enjoyed our stay.Guest review byAnitaNew Zealand - 10.0
We had 4 nights at our beautiful house.
We had 4 nights at our beautiful house. That allowed us to visit a number of rainforests, creeks and waterfalls which are in close proximity to Mission Beach. We prefer creeks and waterfalls to reef trips and their are so many to explore such as Murray Falls and Alligators Nest up near Tully, Lacey's Creek near town, Josephine Falls about an 1 or so draive away and South Mission and Bingil Bay. The bars and restaurants in the village are amazing and very friendly and if you want to make your own food - the Woolies at Wongaling Beach was way cheaper than our local Woolies in inner city Brisbane.Guest review byDeborahAustralia - 10.0

hotel was right on the beach so excellent for sunrise and sunset photos. beach is picturesque with a nice lookout at one end. close to restaurants, quick drive to a supermarket. phone reception was patchy on beach front but fine around the corner. room has only a bar fridge not full size. off road parking can be tight if you are last one's home.Guest review byDannyAustralia - 10.0
Cape Tribulation is an amazing, beautiful place.
Cape Tribulation is an amazing, beautiful place. You can walk along the long, beautiful beach with the ocean on one side and tropical rainforest on the other. When you walk back into the rainforest you are on a boardwalk which takes you through huge mangroves then through the tropical rainforest with a stunning variety of rainforest trees and other plants. You see lots of butterflies as well as birds, goannas and fruit bats. It is a place that fills you with awe.Guest review bySylviaAustralia - 10.0

There’s so much to see and do in and around Atherton, from nature walks and water falls to cafes and strawberry picking to gemstones and geocaching and everything in between. The cooler weather is a welcome escape from the humidity of the coastal areas. Accommodation types are many and varied so there is something to suit every budget. The Tablelands are a food lovers paradise with a relaxed country vibe.Guest review byNiss1234Australia - 10.0

Yungaburra is a very quaint "old-world" town, great history, centrally located for day-trips to the crater lakes and waterfalls. If you are into platypus spotting, this is the place to be, with well sign-posted walking trails and information along the local river. The town itself had several cafes, a pub and a couple of restaurants. There was a small shopping centre, butcher, etc to cater for food supplies.Guest review byDazzaAustralia - 10.0

Loved Daintree rainforest and cape tribulation. A must see if you are heading to Cairns, Palm Cove or Port.Douglas. It’s is a world heritage site. We did indigenous tour at Mossman gorge which was great. Beautiful tropical trees and fauna. Fresh healthy air. You must do it!Guest review byMichymoo2706Australia - 10.0
