I was wondering through amazing eco parks at Cascadas. In the morning you can do yoga and then have a swim. Very lovely and compact if you're staying near Varna Beach. Huge pedestrian zone, easy to navigate the city (I used Google Maps the first day, and then I was roaming like a native). Loved the huge stretch of park along the coast, all the restaurants and bars. I arrived just as school started, so on the fringe of the season. People very, very friendly. Absolutely loved the beach bar and restaurant Pechkata and the Sea View. Calamar Bar. And my favorite, The Forrest. Swam with the dolphins at the dolphinarium (fantastic!) and even bumped a jellyfish on the head by accident (lucky that, but the poor sucker ended up on the beach two days later). I had an amazing experience there. A wonderful and to my every very nice receptionists whom replied to my every request. The rooms and the hotel are very clean and located in a great place just next to the beaches and the bus station. We were really only passing through, between Sofia and Nessebar. We spent a fine day exploring nearby Sozopol - an old fishing port caked in history and with interesting churches. Consequently we didn't have much chance to explore Burgas itself. A true hidden gem of Bulgaria, our favourite place in the country. We like the off-season to visit when it's less crowded and a little cooler. You don't need to plan anything here, just wandering the cobbled streets, admiring the wooden buildings, saying hi to local cats, and browsing market stalls can fill your day. It's a great place to visit for a chill vaycay. Aside from the unique setting there are less points if interest than expected. The palace and it's gardens was great and huge, you should set aside an entire day for it if you plan to see it. The beach was okey, the main one is on the smaller side, it's in a janky area aswell but it was not overcrowded. There was also an odd tiny beach but we didn't go there. It seemed terrible to be honest. A road between the sand and the water and a strip of rock and gravel between the road and water. Have transport if you are staying further into the town. Both of us are well into our retirement which meant Pomorie was perfect for both of us. The town centre and most of rest of town was in very easy walking distance from Suny Bay Hotel.
