However, when we entered the room, the single bed did not have a blanket, they did not have enough towels for the three of us and the room looked like it had not been used for months, that it was closed waiting for a reservation, it smelled of mold, and the reservation it had been done in advance, so they had enough time to air out the room and check the missing details. The receptionist was not receptive, there were no sockets near the beds and the breakfast staff are very rude, we arrived at 9:40 to have breakfast, more than enough time, as the cafe closes at 10:00, however the person in charge told me to hurry as the cafe was about to close, which I considered such a lack of respect. I only stayed there because I thought it would be the best hotel in Porto Velho, but it was a disappointment. Someone unloaded our bags and delivered them to our room when we arrived, and took them out and loaded them into the car when we left. They showed us several different rooms and allowed us to select the one which best suited our needs. The complimentary breakfast was good with a lot of selection provided that we got there relatively early. The pool area was very nice with lots of covered seating in the form of tables and chairs. Manaus is an important starting point near the Amazon Rainforest, there is an incredible visual phenomenon called "encontro das aguas", indigenous tribes, Teatro Amazonas, waterfalls and cave in Presidente Figueiredo. Palmas exceeded our expectations.
Palmas exceeded our expectations. Despite the fact that it is a reasonably large and planned city, it has the atmosphere of a small town. Praia Graciosa is a wonderful and active place with restaurants, wonderful live music and also with boats you may rent for the day to visit 3 islands around or just take a ride to Canela Beach, where you can enjoy a nice lunch in the water. Seara Restaurant has a wonderful buffet and the best caipirinha we’ve had. A little tricky to memorize the streets design as it is full of round-about which makes it a little confusing. There was a mix up at the Barrudada check in. I thought I reserved a room type online at Booking.com for 3 people but they said it was for 2. Nice village with wonderful beaches nearby. The boat tours usually take the entire day and I really recommend taking them instead of staying in Alter if you do not have too much time. Alter is growing fast and a bit out of control, it is also the weekend place from the people from Santarém. During the week it is quiet and Ilha do Amor is not very crowded. It's a place largely devoid of cultural life — there are no libraries, no bookstores, and the local scene revolves almost entirely around mining and agribusiness. The political atmosphere is aggressive, marked by a deeply reactionary and backward mentality. Leticia is the city you will reach to start your Amazonas adventures. We spent one night in town before we traveled up the river. After a long travel to reach Leticia, I would highly recommend spending a night or two in town before heading out on the river. The most interesting part of Santarem
The most interesting part of Santarem is the boardwalk along the Tapajos river from where you can see the Amazon and the Tapajos waters come together.
