- The room was big and comfortable, it had everything it needed. - Breakfast was great, good variety of food, waffles, not many vegetables. - The pool and a slide are great for kids, and the gym is available as well. - Convenient location close to the city center. - Room service was very attentive and provided extra towels by request.

The best BnB in all my rentals in NS ! A real family-run place, not one where people are only there to give you the key ! Charming hosts, the house is decorated with very good taste, the food - dinner and breakfast - is home-made, delicious and delicate, and the concern for ecological matters genuine. I just loved it !

We greatly enjoyed Baddeck's Lobster Suppers.

We greatly enjoyed Baddeck's Lobster Suppers. The food was incredibly delicious, and the service given by Carley was excellent. All staff generated a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The Bean There Cafe also offered friendly service with delicious coffee. The town is conveniently located for us to travel the Cabot Trail.

We LOVED our accommodations, the quiet and the beach! Most restaurant food was very good. Loved whale watching and the gondola. Would have like a continental breakfast as there were no restaurants within walking distance. Also, restaurants close too early and many ran out of food so decided to close! 150 people at the pizza place (because no place else was open with availability) on a Sunday wasn’t fun.

We ate dinner at Le Gabriel Restaurant.

We ate dinner at Le Gabriel Restaurant. There was entertainment Sunday evening at the restaurant. A woman played the fiddle and a man accompanied her on a keyboard. They were excellent. Seafood prices are very high. The place was very busy and the food was good. Getting around Cheticamp is easy. We enjoyed driving along the entire Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island. The Cape Breton Highlands Provincial Park was closed because of high fire danger.

Although located just off the Cabot Trail, one does not have to drive far to reach the trail at Margaree Forks. That is just what we did having spent several days exploring the landscape which is so good it is best not to rush it. Port Hood has accommodations, 2 restaurants that we visited (the Clove Hitch and the Admiral) and both restaurants were recommended to us by friends we have who live elsewhere on Cape Breton. We also spent two nights at Ingonish Beach which is on the trail itself but Port Hood was certainly not disappointing even though it is not on the trail.

    Lovely place. Scenery great.

Lovely place. Scenery great. Food at Main Street Restaurant was very good, deserts were extremely good but expensive. Cape Smokey Gondola was very interesting with great view from the top. The Gondola was a little expensive for someone who only went up and down after seeing the view. There were some trails but didn't seem to be well marked.

We did the tour first which was a perfect way to start our day. Learning about the history of the Fort and what many of the buildings were all about was incredibly helpful in understanding what we were seeing. Not everything was open because it was low season so we will definitely visit again, next time in peak season!

A bit pricey for what you get but options in the area for what we needed were limited. Restaurant onsite with good menu and great service was very convenient for us, especially after some long days travelling and hiking. Loved parking right at our door as it allowed for easy unloading and loading. Our room was towards the back away from the main road which was quieter than other places we stayed. Disappointed that I didn’t check the details of the listing before I booked to see if it had a microwave and fridge, which it did not. TV was miniature but we didn’t use anyway. Internet was spotty when both of us were trying to use it. Shower was wonky and whole room could have been upgraded with a few things while still keeping the charm. bed was not to my liking —- a bit hard—-ended up not sleeping much. All in all it was ok for one night and the restaurant was a huge bonus but I would see if there are other options next time.

Good spot for sunsets. Very small town off the Cabot Trail.

Good spot for sunsets. Very small town off the Cabot Trail. Therefore very few restaurants. They also close early in the shoulder season so good to keep in mind. The main restaurant was Belles and it had a good selection on the menu. The lobster roll was okay and the seafood chowder good.

This was our second trip to North Sydney.

This was our second trip to North Sydney. This trip we used as bookends to our ferry trip to and from Newfoundland. This is a quiet little town, surrounded by incredible beauty. The Black Spoon is a must if you enjoy good food. Friendly people and lots to do. NS would be a good home base for exploring the area.
