It’s surrounded by the mountains, hiking trails start right behind the property. It’s all very woody and spacious. The staff is outstandingly friendly and like I said in the title I have never felt my dog so welcomed. They even made a reservation for me and her at the restaurant (whereas most places don’t allow dogs in the restaurants). That‘s the main reason for the high rating. The dinner menu was exquisite. Kandersteg is a beautiful place for hiking and outdoor activities. I highly recommend to go to the Oeschenesee, it was one of our favorites on our trip. If you stay a little bit longer, maybe you also want to go to Saint-Leonard underground lake, what is easy to access with a car train that leaves from Kandersteg.Guest review byTaijaFinland - 2.0
Venue is very secluded.
Venue is very secluded. This is meant for hikers and campers and not for families travelling place to place. The eating area is infested with flies that makes it very unhygienic. The room has no air-conditioning and the window has no grills and makes it unsafe to be left open with children. This caused us to sleep in a window shut room making it extremely hot in the summer with only a fan to provide ventilation. The apartment was spacious and had a terrific view from the balcony. Free parking was close by and checking in was a breeze. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities and the refrigerator was good sized. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room for 5 adult guests. We traveled as 3 generations and there was something for all of us. We had so much fun and never even used our car. We loved the village and the hiking path along the river. The restaurant was very good. We also enjoyed the restaurant next door in the botanical garden and fish farm. Kandersteg is a really lovely valley and town - not as touristy as other places but really beautiful and charming. I can recommend the tourist office (very nice people), Beckerei Marmotte for a real authentic village bakery and cafe/restaurant, and all the walks and cablecars - I can't wait to be back.Guest review byA KoalaUnited Kingdom
