Lucerne city center is very easy to walk around. Spend some time strolling at the lake promenade and other times sipping coffee in different cafes in the small streets. Plan for a lot of walking although it's easy to hop on/off trams. Delicious restaurants, gelato shops and bakeries on just about every block. We were surprised at how crowded it was in early September, but the weather was temperate, so a good time to go.
