Amazing hospitality from Jorst (breakfast time he did coffee for us and little talk about where to go and best views). Swimming pool and gym and sauna very relaxing. Several tracks for walking very close. Lift for upper floors. Host provided us skipass for nearest telecabins. Summer season is nice in this space. We went to Lausanne every day and it was very hot season down but in the mountain it was fresh and nice sleep with no need for air conditioning. The town is very small so it's very easy to get around.
The town is very small so it's very easy to get around. The town itself is very nice and clean, there are lots of flowers. The views are stunning. The hotel guests are provided with passes allowing to use the cable cars to go up the mountains for hiking or just walking. Driving up the mountain was quite an adventure for someone like me, accustomed to the pancake-flat roads of the Netherlands. The winding roads were challenging, especially with a few cars descending as I made my way up. At one point, I even had to turn around after missing a left turn just past a restaurant—but what a blessing in disguise that was, giving me an extra moment to take in the breathtaking scenery. We stayed for six days in Champery in January for skiing in Portes-du-Soleil. The ski resort is huge. We were able to never do the same run and lift three days in a row. Champery is a historic Suisse alpine village with nicely presented shops, bars and restaurants. Expect to spend approx +30% in Switzerland on everything - especially food.
