I had a very good experience at this hotel. The location is excellent, situated in a beautiful and historic area. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. At first, I wasn’t satisfied with my room, but they immediately arranged a change, which I really appreciated. Communication in English was not a problem at all. Julie at the reception was especially helpful—she spoke fluent English and provided me with great information about the city and everything I needed. The hotel also offers a nice massage service on the third floor, which I enjoyed. Breakfast was generally good, with a variety of Chinese options. Personally, I’m not a big fan of Chinese-style breakfast, but from the reactions of other guests, it was clear that the quality was high.

The food is inexpensive, and Beijing Lu is mostly filled with eateries. It’s best to visit in summer, as winter isn’t ideal. Even though the weather isn’t very cold, most fashion shops sell only winter clothing. People here can be a bit aggressive, especially when entering and exiting the MRT—we were knocked into and pushed a few times. This may just be part of the local culture.

Absolutely shocking, and that was just at the airport, we could not get anyone that spoke English, we had booked hotel at airport so we could get a sleep before our next flight, We were took from one end of the airport to the other, told to fill in forms that we did not need, told we needed visa that we didn’t need, told not to talk, Eventually got to hotel had 2 1/2 hrs sleep before next flight Couldn’t get out of the quick enough 👎👎👎

A boutique newly renovated budget hotel, with a family owned atmosphere. Less than 50 Yuan by taxi from the international airport. Clean rooms and well designed. I would visit again under similar circumstances. The restaurant was very simple but both the evening and breakfast cooks were happy to prepare meals to order. Value for money for those on a budget and not wanting to travel all the way to the Guangzhou CBD.

I have really enjoyed my time in this mega city.

I have really enjoyed my time in this mega city. Much of my enjoyment was due to my walking extensively looking for traces of Old China. In my short time here I could only just scrape the surface.  Going behind the glitzy facades along the main roads,  I found a hidden urban landscape of labyrinthine lanes which could easily be passed by the casual visitor and those who use the metro or taxis.  The lovely parks and Six Bayan Tree Pagoda were the best. Canton Tower only for those who like concrete and glass
