Zarautz is an impossibly quaint, clean, and beautiful town with one of the best surfing beaches in Spain, and possibly Europe. It is a town that is so picturesque it could be in its own movie. The shops are beautiful and tasteful. The restaurants serve some of the best food I've ever tasted. And the beach is huge and absolutely stunning. If you stay for a few days and want to explore the area and get involved with the local culture then this is the hotel for you. If you are just passing through and require an early and quiet evening then this probably isn't the place for you as you are above admittedly an excellent restaurant but unfortunately a little too noisy. A very nice, walkable, small town. A great beach with simple food/bar but also flysch rock formations. Several excellent hikes right from town center. A harbor and breakwater. This was my first trip to San Sebastián.
This was my first trip to San Sebastián. It was crowded even at the end of September. It rained on the second day so we really didn't have a chance to swim which we were looking forward to. The first day was hot and windy. The beach was crowded but I was waiting for my sons to arrive so I decided to sit at a restaurant rather than the beach which ended up being a good decision because a strong wind blew in a cleared out the beach. I arrived on a Saturday and the restaurants were all packed with tourists. I heard many different languages being spoken so I assumed that people from all over Europe were there for the same purpose.
