This place is probably the best place we stayed in Finland. Absolutely fabulous. It has a small kota fireplace outside overlooking the lake where you can wait for the northern lights, a sauna for when you come back in from the cold. An indoor log fire. The kitchen amenities are wonderful with dishwasher and all the mod cons. There is a car port with snowshoes inside and more firewood. Luxury villa. Plus we seen the northern lights 2 times out of 3 nights. Outside decking area too for outdoor dining if warm enough! Keybox entry with code provided for self check in. Host was also very comminicative. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Right close to the lifts, the rooms were really comfortable and well equipped. There is a paid parking right below the resort, so you can drop the car and take the lift to your room, very handy with the cold temperatures.

Very accommodating staff, high quality premisses and furniture (beds were very comfy, loved to have several pillows and sizes!), situation on the lake and close to main restaurants/ski pistes is perfect.

It was spacious for 10 people with 11 beds and four private rooms. Most rooms had bathrooms in them addition to couple "public" bathrooms. Sauna and Jacuzzi was nice.

The city is nestled amidst stunning natural beauty, with forests and lakes. It's perfectly organized for skiers, with bus stops, parking lots, hotels, and restaurants located very close to the ski lifts. Public transportation is excellent, with ski buses running hourly and always on time.

Ruka it's a small ski village where you have all you need for your winter holidays. Plenty of ski resort with efficient lifts. gondolas and other facilities. The center has all you need for a nice stay: shops, cafes, restaurant, ski schools, ski rentals and all the rest you need. With a short trip by car you can reach other ski areas and as well other winter activities such as ice-karting, snowmobile tours, reindeer feeding, reindeer sleigh tours, husky sleigh tours. Great for the pro and the novice skiers. Prices are on the high side (but's high season, you should expect that, isn't it?).

RUKA is a fabulous area, the people are really friendly, shops, restaurants and bars have great opening times over the Christmas period and cater for all needs. The ski school is brilliant and the equipment staff are so helpful even when terribly busy.
We’ve been 4 times to RUKA twice visiting Santa 2.5 hrs away but have used RUKA as a base because of the skiing. We can’t fault it and have already book for Christmas 2025
