Bordeaux is a fabulous city to visit for a few days. Poitiers was our chosen night stop as we drove North toward St Malo. We were there just for the night and left fairly soon after breakfast. We did manage to walk around the main town area after checking in that evening and it was full of interesting architecture. A nice little town with a small grassed area on front of cafes and bars giving it a spacious feel. Many restaurants to choose from as well as local amenity shops. Cinema in the centre. Parking along the roadside free in many places. Pleasant to walk around the many small winding streets. Train station in town too. I needed to find a bed without any dinner or other...
I needed to find a bed without any dinner or other facilities late in the day and only for the night as would be moving on early the next day. Therefore cost was the primary concern. It was cheap and the bed comfortable, though the room noisy when other guests were moving around the building or noisy in their rooms. Don't take breakfast option, it was poor value and not as you might expect when at reception. Behind reception is a pleasant looking restaurant, however breakfast for this hotel is in a side room which is not so pleasant and with not a great selection of food and drink. Massy is a great place to stay since it is right on the RER...
Massy is a great place to stay since it is right on the RER B train, very close to Antony (Orly airport) and also close to central Paris, since you need 30 minutes to reach the center of the city using the RER B. Moreover, accomodation prices are significantly lower than the ones you will get in Paris. Additionally, if you need access to the University of Saclay, or other places in the south of Paris, Massy is great.
