Really nice place, we have been happy to have found Saint Jean Hotel. Really clean , relaxing location , good food and in particular nice panorama in front of us. The service was perfect and the air conditioning a fundamental aspect to appreciate more the services offered. We only had a one night stay in Macinaggio as a base to hike the Sentier des Douaniers. We wish we'd have had more. The hotel was very comfortable and clean and the staff were lovely.

Hotel is small family run enterprise. This is huge advantage - you directly deal with owners. They take care of you with great hospitality. Hotel is very clean, room had airconditioning. Location in Patrimonio town gives you access to many nice beaches and Cap Corse. Around you will find lot of wine, honey, and other local producers. Ribella factory (Corsican local beer manufacturer) was our gem - it is nearby.

    Macinaggio is a living village with a sizeable and...

    Macinaggio is a living village with a sizeable and interesting marina, filled with a variety of boats including real fishing boats. We loved looking at all the boats. The water of the marina was clean and beautifully coloured, so we took lots of great photos. There are clean public toilets and showers right at the parking area of the marina, a bonus as public toilets are hard to find in France! There are several cafés and restaurants along the main strip, between the marina and the main road, we ate at the pizzeria one night which was fine, though not outstanding - the view over the marina was magnificent in the changing evening light. We bought bread and pastries the next morning at a very nice and well stocked boulangerie. As we stayed only one night we didn't visit the local beach.

    Small port with nice atmosphere.

    Small port with nice atmosphere. A few small shops and some good dining options. Not too busy in June so very pleasant and I do yoga so every morning I went out and watched the sun rise over the little boats docked in the harbor.

    We were touring Corsica so travelled to many different...

    We were touring Corsica so travelled to many different locations (there are a huge amount of beaches on Corsica and lots and lots of places to eat in many of the villlages). Pietracorbara is a hamlet made up of various villages and seaside areas. We particularly liked Erbalunga which was about a 15 minute drive from La Maison d'Americains. A bit nearer to the house (7 kilometres) is the hostesses family run bar/restaurant "L'Effet Mer" where we spent our last evening. They host live music every few weeks and the restaurant was busy with locals and tourists and had a great ambience. The restaurant is also open during the day for coffee and bar meals. Lots of walking trails. We managed to find a short walk to the Genoese Bridge (2 kms from Lapedina). Park in public car park and then its a five minute walk down to the river. Its an idyllic spot and the bridge, waterfalls and pools does not fail to disappoint. No signposts to the bridge (its a well kept secret place to go!) so ask your hosts of your accommodation to point you in the right direction! We travelled for about an hour to Saleccia to visit Parc de Saleccia. Well worth a visit. Beautiful Mediterranean gardens close to sea with a great shop and restaurant. Wonderful beach nearby for a swim after!
