Location perfect for visiting the region and nearby Pont du Gard. You can park for free in the hotel and walk 15 minutes to the bridge. The hotel was in superb condition, spotless room and bathroom. All amenities presented and functional. But most of all, the atmosphere draws you to stay longer. Restaurant above expectations. Simple check in and check out. Staff polite and friendly.

Incredible place. The very essence of France. The whole hotel is renovated to the highest standard, and the restaurant is worth visiting even if you are not staying for the night. Very nice surroundings: olive trees and vineyards. Just like from a Provence postcard. But the best is the staff. Caring, professional, welcoming. It’s them who make the place a true gem. Will definitely come back.

Interesting small city with top class Roman remains (as big as Rome - though not so widely known). It is easy to move/walk around Nimes and I recommend it as a relaxing city. The Spanish themed Feria took place while I was there - great, enjoyable and lots of revellers - not relaxing but great fun for visitors of all ages. I hope you've got the picture. Enjoyable, lots of ancient sites, but up-to date entertainment and a relaxed atmosphere for all to enjoy. Finally, it's not a hilly city. Walkers can relax and take it at their own pace.

Le grau du roi is a beautiful compact fishing port. It is located along a bar and cafe canal like estuary. To sit whilst sipping a cold beer, enjoying a local wine or indulging in a splendid seafood meal whilst watching the boats returning in the evening or the sun setting over the lighthouse guarded quayside is heavenly.

We liked the very harmonious mix of ancient history and modern attractions. The map provided by the tourist office with 40 interesting points of interest marked for you to wander in your own time very useful. We had drinks in many places but ate in La Vigourie and IX Louis only. Both delicious and great value. Even though one of us has a few mobility problems walking around in short bursts worked fine; the town is small enough. Sunday market was excellent for end of season summer dresses, roast chickens and figs! Walking the ramparts (in flat shoes) is probably a must, educational animations along the way are well done with sub-titles. A week is a good stay length, take a short train ride to the sea-side ports, architectural surprises like La Grande Motte and out into the Camargue flats.

A wonderful little town with a good range of shops and places to eat. The old part of the town was so beautiful and wandering around the quiet streets was magical. The good: Flamingos! Miles of beaches. Great places to go walking. Amigoland, though expensive, is fun for kids of all ages - even those in their forties. You can rent motorboats and jetskis in town. For connections, its not far from Montpellier or Marseille. The bad: Restaurants are poor in LGdR. From French to Italian to Asian they all disappointed. Mosquitoes are tenacious all around this area due to miles and miles of open shallow water. Personal verdict: go somewhere else instead.
