We brought our three dogs with us, which was no problem, but were told that we could not bring them in the breakfast room (perfectly understandable for us) when we booked, so we did not book the breakfast. Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted breakfast the day after as well: we indicated that we had the dogs with us and the friendly employee told us that indeed the breakfast room was not possible, but we could take breakfast in the bar/salon. After a good sleep we went to the bar/salon in the morning and another friendly employee even set the table for us and brought water for the dogs, an excellent service! The breakfast itself was also outstanding with a large choice, so everyone will have something to their liking. Furthermore, the hotel is located around at an excellent spot in the city center and the possibility to reserve a parking space was great. We found the hotel easily and the hotel staff helped us park our car (the streets are very narrow). The hotel is a classic building, the likes of which I have rarely seen. It is very beautiful and the staff are very helpful. We liked it very much. It is located right in the city center, on a quiet street. There are many restaurants in the area and lots to visit. It’s basic but clean and comfortable. What made it great is the staff. We stayed twice (once in each direction) and both times they were so very friendly and welcoming. They were also very helpful when we left something behind and had to have it sent back via UPS. An extraordinary town overflowing with mediaeval buildings so very picturesque. Many bars and restaurants. A fabulous Musee d'Art Moderne, unexpectedly good! If you want a motel style stopover, this place fits the bill. It’s not fancy. The breakfast is good. Plenty of free car parking. In addition to being given a wonderful welcome by the host and being made so comfortable - Saint-Julien-les-Villas is a residential area of Troyes a few minutes drive from the centre (or a 30 minute stroll) and, so it is a good place to stay if you want peace and quiet. We've stayed before but the hotel has gone downhill. Rooms are looking tired. Food in the restaurant was very poor. Troyes is a beautiful example of a town packed full of half-timbered medieval houses everywhere you look. And so many churches and a beautiful cathedral. It's well worth a visit and specifically look out for the stained glass windows and we would recommend a visit to the Cite du Vitrail which is a fabulous museum about stained glass and apothecaries.
