We went to the Interceltique Festival at Lorient.
We went to the Interceltique Festival at Lorient. The town was virtually rebuilt after World War 2 damage and is therefore not all that aesthetically pleasing in itself. However, a good base for hopping on a train to Quimper, Vannes or other 'pretty' destinations.Guest review byAlunUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Auray is a pretty little town and it has a wonderful market on Mondays. One of the best French markets we have been to. There is plenty to explore in the Morbihan (we used the trains a lot as well as our car) We recommend two sights in particular: 1. the megalith stones at Carnac 2. Going inside the submarine at L'OrientGuest review byDeirdreUnited Kingdom - 6.0
We did not like this town.
We did not like this town. The property is in the centre of town and we did not feel safe there. It was very down at heel in the centre although we walked out further to a a supermarket and the suburbs looked and felt fine.Guest review byRichfirsUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Le Palais is the main town in Belle Ile, which is well named as it is beautiful. It has restaurants, creperies and interesting shops as well as tourist ones. Many people sail here and moor for a night or several. There is a fine 17th century citadel overlooking the town and a little harbour with lots of watch.Guest review byLeeUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Pontivy is a pleasant town, ideally located for a stopover if you are travelling along the Nantes Brest Canal. The architecture is very charming, a mix of Napoleonic and medieval buildings. The central area is pedestrian friendly and has everything you need in terms of shopping. The castle was closed while we were there.Guest review byMARCUnited Kingdom - 6.0

The countryside around Larmor Plage is beautiful though Lorient is not the most attractive place. Port Louis is well worth the trip especially if you take the BateauBus which is a steal at Euro 1.30 each way.Guest review byaliciaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We loved Vannes.
We loved Vannes. The old town is so interesting with its medieval buildings and hidden streets and squares. It is so close to the port with its waterside activities. We visited the Cathedral and the Musee de Beaux Arts, Despite ongoing renovations at the Cathedral we still found lots to look at. The ramparts and gardens are also well worth a look. There were plenty of places to eat. The day we visited the old town it poured with rain so we had wonderful moules frites opposite the cathedral. We could have stayed a lot longer in Vannes and look forward to going back.Guest review byJillUnited Kingdom
