Pretty little Villa centrally located in Barcelonnette. The rooms very really beautifully renovated and the open glass shower in the room was amazing! They offered breakfast on lovely small tables in the garden. The staff and the Charme of the place were amazing! Also it is only 3 walking minutes away from the center and the pedestrian zone! There is a free open parking lot next to the hotel (we luckily got the last free space there)

Everything was astonishingly pleasant! The hotel staff as a whole was always available to help and very friendly, though never excessively. A guy with long dark hair and glasses was sincerely the best hotel clerk I have ever had the pleasure to encounter in my whole life. The room and every part of the hotel was clean and orderly. The food was marvellous as well and not expensive: for 19 euros I ate a creamy lentils soup with coconut milk and a stunning filet mignon laid on mashed sweet potatoes (which you can see in the only photo of the hotel). There was a lot of attention also to details, for example, we arrived to Le Prieuré after a big hike near Tende (you can see two photos of it, in one you can spot the sea in the horizon! Tende is truly a magical place) and the room was already heated: a dream come true. The remaining photo is Tende in the sunset, although Le Prieuré is not exactly in Tende, but 5 minutes from it, I did not take any photo of the hotel, but I can assure that the location is great. In short, I can only recommend Le Prieuré especially considering the price!!! Best hotel I have ever been to.

Superb place. Family friendly with an amazing owner that was very helpful. Place like on the pictures, with huge common area for guests , with games if you want to chill in the evening. Located right by the side of the lift, 5 mins walking from a small lake. Very clean rooms with comfy beds. I was very happy there with my daughter as we had dream stay there. The reception opened specially for us to have an early check in. The proximity to the centre/slopes/chair lift is perfect. The sofa bed was clean and comfortable. All the amenities in the kitchen were great and the water was lovely and hot. It is a great place for families/friends to stay. I would say 6 would be a squeeze but 5 of us was perfect.

Great base for a hiking or skiing focused trip. Very quiet town, but there's a lively market on Saturdays. Plenty of restaurant options every night, including week nights. Bakeries and grocery store for hiking provisions. We didn't explore public transit or taxi options up to Mercantour park entrance because we had a rental car. Some trails leave from the center of town. There's also a very impressive indoor climbing center with a pool that would be great for families or for rainy-day activities, but we didn't have time to visit. You can walk to the hillside town of

Beautiful mountains and trails to lakes and waterfalls. Most restaurants in the area had very rude staff. I speak 3 languages, unfortunately not French and we had a hard time communicating and were treated poorly by host both in person and by phone due to lack of understanding. I have worked in service industry my entire life in multiple countries and I was surprised that for a tourist location host were so rude to people that don't speak French.

The countryside in Valberg is beautiful and the little town is cool but during the time we were there only a portion of the restaurants were open and we only found a couple places with good food. There was lots of construction which made it impossible to relax and enjoy the area but I am sure once the construction is done it will be nice.
