You need a reason to be in Barcelonnette. It is not a destination in itself. But good selection of restaurants and pedestrian fares. If you are motorcycling or bicycling, what a great launching point!Guest review byWarrenUnited States - 8.0

Jausiers is on the crossroads of two slightly different routes of the Route des Grandes Alpes: one via Col de la Bonette and another one via Col de la Cayolle. The Route is magnificent. Would strongly recommend to include in the Route the Gorges du Cians and, especially, Gorges de Daluis.Guest review byMykolaBelgium - 10.0

We didn't really visit Guillaumes itself properly as the accomodation is 9km away up the mountain, but it seemed a pleasant town and is in a great position for exploring the Parc. We did visit several nearby towns which were very interesting, notably Entrevaux and Colmars.Guest review byPhilH-KUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Great base for a hiking or skiing focused trip.
Great base for a hiking or skiing focused trip. Very quiet town, but there's a lively market on Saturdays. Plenty of restaurant options every night, including week nights. Bakeries and grocery store for hiking provisions. We didn't explore public transit or taxi options up to Mercantour park entrance because we had a rental car. Some trails leave from the center of town. There's also a very impressive indoor climbing center with a pool that would be great for families or for rainy-day activities, but we didn't have time to visit. You can walk to the hillside town ofGuest review byCaitlinUnited States - 8.0
Beautiful mountains and trails to lakes and waterfalls.
Beautiful mountains and trails to lakes and waterfalls. Most restaurants in the area had very rude staff. I speak 3 languages, unfortunately not French and we had a hard time communicating and were treated poorly by host both in person and by phone due to lack of understanding. I have worked in service industry my entire life in multiple countries and I was surprised that for a tourist location host were so rude to people that don't speak French.Guest review byAmon-ErosItaly - 10.0

We went in spring which is outside of their main season so the town is quiet and peaceful but sure in season that it must be amazing. We found two restaurants open during our stay and they both had amazing good food & very friendly staff that could speak English.Guest review byChantelle LouwUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Valdeblore is a very nice little town, there is a beautiful church and ancient houses. I love the food from the boulangerie Terroir. I'd have liked to have more time to do some trekking in the beautiful mountains. I didn't use it, but I know that you can get around by bus. You can go to Nizza by bus in about 1 hour and a halfGuest review byAlessandra EleonoraItaly - 8.0

This place has been destroyed by several heavy rains and floods but they are making such an effort to recontruct, and despite the shock of 2020 and 2023 everyone is smiling, positive and open minded, I loved the people and the place, not to speak of the spectacular mountain walks.Guest review byPia ParolinFrance - 10.0
It's a great little town/village, easy to walk around.
It's a great little town/village, easy to walk around. Look for guided tours of church and village. Excellent for hiking. The tele-cabine and chair lift Pinatelle, is fun. At the top of the mountain they have made lots to look at. My husband and I return almost yearly to St. Etienne de Tinée, peronally I love the place. The camping is excellent, too and there's a lot to do for children if you come as a family. Every village has a history - make sure to find out about it.Guest review byAnonymousFrance
