Bergerac is a beautiful town in the Dordogne, we loved walking around the historic area, it feels very safe and is hilly enough to add to the character but not too hilly to spend the whole day walking around. The Port on the Dordogne River is nice, we did the boat ride, you don't see much as far as houses or buildings but there was plenty of wildlife to see, Osprey, Egrets and they even found a Kingfisher for us so see. One entire day there or 2 short days is enough. We filled the other 2 days with excursions to Chateaux.

Beautiful historic well kept village on grid layout.

Beautiful historic well kept village on grid layout. Nice restaurants and small shops. Has two small supermarkets for provisions a butcher and veg shop wine and local delicacies. Market Thursday. Lovely local people. Would recommend privilege restaurant to eat offering local food to a high standard in a typically French setting. Nice walks from village for those who like walking or running. Good base for seeing the dordogne area by car. Historic market square nice to have a drink in in season. You can buy a map at the Monparzier tourist centre in the square showing walks which are marked by coloured markers. Two bakeries for daily croissants bread and lovely cakes and sandwiches. Local filling station just out of top end of villages on Road to Bergerac.

Eymet is a lovely little village full of character and charm. It's the perfect location for a short little get away over a weekend, or as a base to explore the surrounding areas of the Dordogne. It's well worth hiring a care and visiting some of the picturesque villages and towns in the Dordogne valley. Also worth visiting nearby Bergerac. Eymet has a great variety of restaurants and bars. You won't go hungry thats for sure. And on certain days of the week there are markets which are great to take a look around. The locals are very welcoming and friendly. A recommended place to visit.

We liked the location, it was extremely quiet. A beautiful private pool and not far from some great restaurants, and a great golf course nearby. A night market in Eymet on a Tuesday evening was a bonus, with some great restaurants. We also attended a wine tasting with our hosts which was great. Also English is spoken fluently an added bonus.

Sainte-Foy-la-Grande is a very interesting old town, quite sleepy and not many restaurants and bars. No night life. Big Saturday market. Very convenient for travelling to Bergerac or Bordeaux by car - and there is a train station. Also very close to many vineyards which are open for visits and wine tasting. Lovely region and very easy to find your way around. Close to Bergerac airport, which was also quick and easy, as it is small - took no time to pick up our hire car.

Lalinde is ideally situated for exploring into the Dordogne and up to Perigord region. Brantome is well worth a visit to the north. There are a couple of great restaurants, Le P'tit Loup and All'Olivo in particular. However, Sunday and Monday evenings it all closes up a bit so you need to be able to cater for yourself for food and drink. Lalinde is on the flat so easy to get around for those with any mobility issues.

Gorgeous old town - amazing food and restaurants and the beaches on the river made it like a beach holiday in the middle of the countryside. Close commute to lots of things to see and do and the food!!!! Le Bugue is a great little town a few miles away with restaurants and a big supermarket for stocking up - a bit further afield there are some great places to see - Sarlat is worth a visit and there are loads of things to do.

Great base for exploring the Dordogne area.

Great base for exploring the Dordogne area. Train and bus facilities enable public travel over a large space but a car can give more freedom. The restaurants were in good supply and we found most excellent quality and value. Easy to get around the town and people are friendly and helpful. As with lots of France not overly dominated by tourists and the tradtional settings offer much to be admired and visited.

We had a print of Monpazier from over 25 years ago and promised one day to visit. It's remained unchanged and was beautiful. Highly recommend having a wine or other drink in the market square and watch the world go by at a pace so much slower than here in England.
