Arriving in the city and at hotel means entering a different world which offers relaxation and French hospitality. Flowers and vine branches everywhere with old machinery such as wine presses on display. If you love romantic rooms with old but restored furniture (like we do), however with a modern bathroom it is a MUST to book this hideaway! We also had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant - it was very tasty and the prices were totally fine! Another plus point: As it was my boyfriends birthday i asked if it is possible to have a small cake in the morning ... well it worked out and we both had 2 wonderful tartelets in the morning - THANK YOU! In general the region is very scenic - there are quite a lot of things to do (especially for kids being 6/7+) BUT Bergheim is very sleepy. If you want to have a drink in the evening (especially on Wedndesdays / thursday when the restaurant is closed) it is almost impossible to find something. We went for a spa weekend with our french bulldog (which sleeps a lot) and everything was perfect. The room was comfortable with enough space to walk around, the bathroom was very warm. This room was a little outdated but very charming. The spa facilities are definitely high standards, 2 different sauna, a hamman, a pool with jacuzzi space, everything is made to relax. The restaurant was also great, food was qualitative and servings a good size. The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of the wine-growing region of Alsace. Very touristy during the daytime, but the crowds thin out considerably in the evening, leaving the storks in peace with those discerning enough to have booked somewhere to stay in the village itself. Eating out is expensive and the quality is mediocre. Nobody needs to try hard here, because the location is stunning and people will keep coming back even when service is poor. Some spectacular castle ruins are hiking distance from the village. The picturesque city of Colmar is within easy reach. The historic village of Turckheim is worth visiting when the town watchman does his nightly rounds of the walls, wishing all the sleeping inhabitants a "guati Nacht" in the Alsacien language.Guest review byThe Language SecretGermany - 10.0

Beautifully kept Medieval town. Extremely well run hotel with outstanding Breakfasts and beautiful food in the Winstub. The staff are very helpful and the owners work very hard and in the hotel every day. The neighbourhood is friendly and 5 mins away from shops most are within walking distance. The village is quite sweet but small. There are a few restaurant choices but they are expensive and the quality didn’t blow us away. It’s ok as a base for exploring the area but maybe not to stay. Barr is an idyllic quiet town surrounded by gorgeous vineyards. It is very walkable and has regular trains passing through. Everyone was very friendly and even though I didn’t speak French, I got around with gestures and smiles.
