Public transport excellent.

Public transport excellent. Drinks expensive but “Happy Hour” helps. Trip to Entrevaux excellent. All visitors should research Carte Sud Azur as covers trams, buses and trains for duration you choose to pay for. Marc Chagall Museum not to be missed and only a 7 min walk from main train station. Chez Palymere a restaurant which has 3 course and excellent food at very reasonable price- BOOK IN ADVANCE .

There was so much to see and do!

There was so much to see and do! The History Museum in the Bourse shopping centre was fantastic! The Cosquer Cave was wonderful. We took the boat trip to the Calanques and enjoyed it. It was easy to get around and we used buses and the Metro. The best souvenir store was "Marseille in The Box". 13 Rue Reine Elizabeth. It is opposite the Carrefore store outside The Bourse. The man who runs it has items that are made for him in Marseille and unique items that are not found in the souvenir stores on the waterfront. He also speaks English and has good information about visiting Marseille. Great restuarant: Il Trio, 29 Pl.aux Huiles. In big plaza just behind the waterfront. Delicious and large size platter at a reasonable price.

This city has so much to offer. It is a very walkable city, but also has great public transport. The landmarks and attractions are easy to access, and are all in relatively close proximity so you can plan a full day of excursions. The surrounding villages are so picturesque.

Toulouse has a very vibrant feel because there are lots of young people there for university. We were able to walk along the river enjoying the street music. We went to the Victor Hugo market where a lot of locals were buying food and bought a selection for a picnic by the river. Found a range of good restaurants including the Beax des Arts, right by our hotel, fabulous. Enjoyed the history and interesting architecture all around us. This was a fun city to visit.

Lovely city to visit, just go and try.

Lovely city to visit, just go and try. There was an amazing open market to explore (Tuesday) and we found some great places to eat. Only stayed a couple of nights, I would recommend 3 or 4. We traveled on Interrail and took a train direct from Paris Lyon to Montpellier Sud de France. It’s was fast about 3 hours. The station is out of town but we discovered that they are opening up a new line (Oct 2025) to link up with Montpellier station itself so you can change and not take a taxi or try you luck with a bus that could take 45mins. That’s going to make a huge difference.

We loved the old city of Avignon, especially The Palais du Papes and the Pont d’Avignon. Great for walking around as well-illuminated at night. Only drawback was number of tours with large groups of people milling around and blocking corridors in the Palais.

Novotel Pont del Arc is ideal accommodation for car based family roaming in Provence, as we have enjoyed for more than three decades. Few locations have maintained the same level of excellent service. Aix is a VERY special place, being the hometown of Cezanne, Zola etc. and ideal base for exploring the whole of Provence, particularly the Cote d'Azur, Marseilles, Grimaud, the Callanque etc etc. :-),

This was not my first trip to Lourdes and I found the destination to be rather pricy. Food is terribly expensive, like a portion of dessert is 9e. The destination only offers the religious aspect unless you leave Lourdes to visit the mountains. The Marian Sanctuary has many ongoing events but one needs to organise oneself, because 100s of people are there.

Main take from my visit was how friendly and helpful everyone is in Carcassonne. Didnt have any bad experiences in shops, restaurants or bars. Such a laid-back city. A very walkable city with the beautiful Medieval City towering above and visibly from almost everywhere. Great walking paths along the River Aude and on the Canal du Midi.
