We loved everything! We chose the Zen room which was wonderfully large with all the furnishings you might need. There was a desk, a bench, loads of pillows and cushions. and I loved the low armchairs, the perfect height for bending over to tie your shoes. The huge, round bathroom was really special, I loved the idea of it being in the tower. There was so much care and thought to the comfort of guests, every little thing was available. The grounds are so peaceful, it’s a real escape. But still close enough to everywhere for taking in the sights. The best of all was Laurie, the manager. She was always available, made us feel superbly pampered, she worked so hard to ensure we didn’t want for anything. The email she sent me on arrival was invaluable with information and tips on the area - what to see, where to eat, and so on. We loved the Dordogne and if we come back, we’d love to stay here again!

The location is good. Some of the sites and museums are within walking distance. Easy walking. It takes time walking from the train station to get to the location because out of season there isn't bus service, and taxis are hard to get. The employees and receptionist are helpful and kind. They agreed to look after my luggage untill the time of my train. It is a 5 - 10 minute walk from a supermarket and petrol station for those who need it. There is a good size rack to dry washed clothes. They have washing machines on the premises to use with payment by credit cards.

What an absolute gem! We didn’t know in advance that we would be in the tower room - what a fabulous surprise. Our overnight stay was faultless. Staff are very friendly. We used the secure off site car park: well worth doing in busy Sarlat. Our room was fabulous and so was breakfast. We knew in advance that the restaurant wouldn’t be open that night but all the more reason to return to try it and there is no shortage of other options on a Monday evening in Sarlat.

Was quite a surprise when we drove up to the hotel, felt like we were going through a housing estate and then we went through the gates and this was a lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful and the evening meals outstanding. Had originally thought we would got out for food, but after the first night were so impressed we ate there for the remaining three nights.

Market was incredible on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Market was incredible on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Hard to get around without a car. We took several small tours with Ophorus and that great. Rented a car one day and would have liked to have it more. Getting in to the grottos, it's important to make reservations in advance at least a few days before even in the off-season.

This touristy village is a great base for a holiday in the Dordogne area of France. It's the world centre of prehistory, complete with the excellent National Museum of Prehistory and loads of caves and rock shelters nearby. The incredible cave paintings at Lascaux and the medieval town of Sarlat (amazing market on Saturday mornings) are a short drive away. There are loads of great restaurants in the village, and also a weekly evening food market on Fridays in the summer, with fabulous food stalls (top-quality take away dinner!). We didn't have a car during our holiday - we travelled there and back to Les Eyzies by train, and made full use of the local bus services 337 and 339 which run a very cheap summer service for tourists to Sarlat and Lascaux. Canoeing on the River Vezere is a must - we used Canoe 24, a 5-minute walk from our hotel.

A pleasant small hotel in a beautiful location. in this historic village on the Dordogne river. Paid parking is opposite and you can walk up to the Chateau. The rooms are average size but comfortable and with views over the viillage towards the river. There is a bar with ourside seating overlooking the river. We ate at the Pizzeria des Templiers Restaurant and it was excellent. Lovely cooling mist in their nice courtyard. Very friendly staff and delicious pizzas with a thin crispy crust. Tasty desserts too. We also ate at the Esplanade which is a lovely place to sit on a warm summers evening on the terrace. Very helpful staff for choosing the meal and wine to go with it. Also my friend had a problem with certain foods and it was no problem to make changes. They were so helpful. we also ate at the Asian restaurant just outside of Domme. They have just moved there. The meal was delicious and all home made. Not bought in frozen. Domme is great for shopping and all the shop keepers were super friendly.
