FAQs about hotels in Var
Sunny Greetings from Sandy Beaches
Part of the French Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, the Var is famous for its sunny sea resorts, great wine and Romanesque and medieval architecture. With picturesque landscape, plenty of sunshine hours and delicious cuisine, this Mediterranean region is a top tourist destination.
Var’s capital, Toulon, is France’s 2nd-largest naval port and a city on the rise. After years of neglect, it is now thriving with nightlife, undergoing vast revitalisation processes and offering great transport connections. West of Toulon there are popular towns of Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer with popular beaches and Bandol, famous for its exquisite wine.
To the east of the capital lies the most famous resort in Var, Saint-Tropez, filled with cafés, white yachts and wealthy tourists. Most of its sandy beaches offer watersports activities and some are very popular among naturists.
North of Saint-Tropez there is another great beach destination, Sainte-Maxime, where not only can you enjoy jet-skiing and sunbathing, but also play a round or 2 of golf on one of the 8 golf courses in the village’s area.

- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 873 reviewsStaff in the reception wall lovely and friendly and ALWAYS very helpful. Kids absolutely loved the swimming pool and the slides! Our mobile home was lovely and very clean. Kitchen was fully equipped and we were missing nothing - except for the washing liquid and sponge to wash up but there is little convenience shop with all the essentials right by the entrance to the camping where you can get you bits if you're stock for something like toilet paper 😉👍 Patio space was lovely and spacious with big table and chairs for all 6 of us and clothes horse to dry the clothes on a sunny day but if raining you have there laundry room with lots of washing machines and dryers!Guest review byAsiaIreland
- From $434.03 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 323 reviewsWow! My husband and I had the most romantic and wonderful stay here during our honeymoon trip. The grounds of the hotel were incredible and so gorgeously maintained. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the room was private, gorgeous, and so romantic. The beds were also profoundly comfortable. What a luxury! We wished our stay could have been longer but we can’t wait to one day return here.Guest review byStephanieUnited States

It was my husband's first time to France, and he loved France and especially this place so much that now he wants to buy a château there! Also, the hotel was only a 5 minute walk to the cute village of Tourtours. This is definitely one of my favorite hotels anywhere!Guest review byziajkoUnited States

We Didn’t like Toulon. Large, busy place.
We Didn’t like Toulon. Large, busy place. The main town wasn’t nice and not somewhere I would want to walk around. Beaches were very average - dusty shingle rather than sand. I wouldn’t return or recommend. We included the visit in a stopover.Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It was crowded.
It was crowded. It was market day and there was a Porsche event with about 800 cars m/l. The town knows how to handle a large event. We got lost but John rescued us. The police are not very helpful or friendly.Guest review byJoelUnited States - 10.0

Hyeres is beautiful like with a touch of Saint Tropez but way more peaceful. The people are nice and kind-very helpful. There are so many beach to chooce from. The transfortation is efficient enough. My favorite spot is the Port Saint Pierre- where you can dine by the port. I stayed in Ibis Budget hotel which is very close to the city center. Also the weather is nice.Guest review byMarvinPhilippines - 8.0

Enjoyed swimming, walking along the sea front and the ports and having coffee overlooking the sea front. Didn’t really see the uphill historic part, which I regret. The Tourist office at Saint Raphael was helpful as I needed a bus timetable. I’d say you need to be reasonably fit ( or have a car) to stay in the area I was in as in fact buses were few and far between so I did a lot of walking. I was on an Interrail pass so also enjoyed a little side trip out to Nice, which has good and frequent rail links with Saint Raphael.Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We like to fly into Nice and head to Saint Raphael as it’s a large coastal town with a harbour but smaller than Nice and beautiful promenade and many restaurants . I can swim in the sea everyday and grab the sun . It’s a lovely town . Very easy to grab a bus for day trips to other places or a train. We love heading to St Tropez for a day trip . A lovely bus trip . Cheap and great views of the coastline . Also Agay is beautiful resort . You could do Cannes . I’m not sure as regards nightlife as we are are here to relax . There is a harbour and yachts aplenty . So there are options to indulge in sea/ water activities . There is a Monoprix supermarket on same street as large church and few minutes into front of train station . Various Pharmacies . (Important to note that as of this year you cannot purchase strong painkillers from a pharmacy in France . It’s by presciption only . So if you need or require some ensure you take them with you .) .great boulangeries and cheesemongers . There’s also a fruit , veg , Fish market worth a visit . Saint Raphael is all walkable and I spotted many visitors who were wheelchair users . So access appears to be good here . We usually return to Nice for 2or 3 days for more of a city vibe .Guest review byarthurUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It's simply wonderful.
It's simply wonderful. The town is just the right size, not too big yet not too small. All the facilities are within walking distance. There are lots of bars, reataurants and shops, including supermarkets. The beach is great, too. It's not overcrowded. The prices in some eatieries might seem too high, but it's possible to find some affordable places.Guest review byZygmuntPoland - 10.0

Great location for bars, restaurants and beaches. Very comfortable room with a balcony view of the sea and beyond. Good selection of food at breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff that could easily cope with my poor grasp of the French language (apologises!)Guest review bySeanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
This may be the "family spot" of the Cote d"Azur.
This may be the "family spot" of the Cote d"Azur. There were lots of families with children, ranging from infants to teens. Plenty of couples as well, ranging from twenty-somethings to octogenarians. Lots of stores, restaurants, and scenery all with a very classy feel. The beach is the main attraction, and the water is clear, and cool. The nearly constant breeze and cool water provide relief from the fairly intense sun.Guest review bySmith - 10.0

Sanary is one of the prettiest places I've ever been to. Very well maintained and protected. Nice beaches (Six Fours & Sanary). Everything is there for you to have a good time. I could go on and on, go and discover it yourself! :-) One thing I did not like at all; there is no dog beach.Guest review byPalHungary - 10.0
