- From US$273.01 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 5,496 reviewsTha wheatear was brilliant and the staff were so helpful and friendly. It was a nice view of the lake from the lake suite. The room with a private bathtub was the best choice for relaxing and couple celebrations. Also, the spa and swimming were available and cosy. At this time of year (December), the town was so beautiful and everywhere was decorated for Christmas. It was a dreamy trip.🎄✨️Guest review byFarokhiazizkandiIran
- From US$212.87 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 2,431 reviewsAn old hotel with a special atmosphere, situated in its own large garden (with rabbits nibbling on the grass...), It was quiet as it is on the town outskirts, but 5 min walk to Keswick center. Access to walking paths direct from the hotel. Parking available on site. We had a nice and relatively large room with a view to the bunnies....The staff was very nice.Guest review byTamarIsrael

Visited in early October...town was humming in daytime, and reasonably busy at night. Didn't feel like holidaying out of season. Lots of outdoor shops, cafe's, pubs and cafes, all seemed very friendly. Ate in both pubs and local restaurant. Very helpful tourist Information with lots of maps etcGuest review byAllanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The older area of the city around the cathedral and castle is the most interesting and easy to explore on foot. The area includes the Tullie museum. The town centre shopping area is a disappointment with only one good coffee place.Guest review byJohn SkinnerAustralia - 10.0

Bowness is a very compact, beautiful, scenic place. It is easy to walk around the town & walks around parts of the lake very accessible. Great boat trips available of varying lengths. Easy to get to other towns & villages by car or bus. Masses of eating places for a variety of tastes. Lovely area to view in any kind of weather.Guest review byHeatherUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The cottage was in a good location to visit other parts of the Lake District. Narrow roads but not too busy. We ate in the Cottage in the evening but visited the local pub, just a short walk away, for a pre-dinner drink. We bought some wonderful local bacon from the shop. The Shop was surprisingly well stocked. The Cottage is not in Ambleside which was a good thing as there was a Beer Festival the whole weekend we were there and Town was packed. The Cottage is in a perfect location and great for walkers.Guest review byDelythUnited Kingdom - 8.0
