- From US$293.50 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,122 reviewsWe absolutely loved The Cooden Beach. The weather outside was frightful, but the fire inside delightful. It was warm, cozy and very welcoming. The staff were so lovely and helpful. We mostly ate inside the hotel having visited family in the area during the day. The food was delicious. Everything we had was exceptional. The staff couldn't do enough. It was lovely talking to Ben S. Andre was fabulous at dinner. Robert at breakfast. And the Reception and Housekeeping team super. Thank you to all of them for making our stay perfect.Guest review byKarenSpain

The only issue we had was the flooring on the promenade which was most unsuitable for pushing walking aids on wheels and wheelchairs - too cobbly. So Sad to see empty shops on pier and the roadworks for pedestrianisation were terrible so hope they get that work done very soon. We went to the theatres - there were many broad-beamed (!) people there like ourselves and the seats were tight, uncomfortable and no knee room but probably something that cannot be changed - pityGuest review byAnonymous - 10.0

I like Hastings - its an ideal location I feel for a short stay - eg 3 nights. There are a few historical/heritage sites to visit in/around/just outside its town itself. Its clean - along with its beaches too - albeit they are not sandy but soft pebbly ... Can highly recommend a small family seafront family-run restaurant called La Delizia for an evening - by day, its a great eatery/bistro. As it is very small, I would suggest making a reservation for dinner - the food is superb and sells Italian produce too. Great for gifting. Taxis within the area - best to use 247 Transport Solutions who are very reliable. Don't use Uber as not so frequent at all - especially late evenings. My thoughts are that they work for local concerns and Uber jobs they maybe offered are actioned thereafter, so wait time maybe lengthy !Guest review byFrazzyUnited Kingdom - 8.0

We ate at a restaurant called Simply Italian. The food was amazing and there was a friendly atmosphere. The bus service was very good, times of the buses were accurate. There was plenty to see and do around Rye. I would definitely recommend a visit to the Nature Reserve at Rye Harbour.Guest review bymichaelUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lewes is very good as a place to stay if you are interested in history or just like browsing local shops. It also has excellent railway connections so you can get to Brighton, Hastings, Eastbourne and up into Sussex by public transport. It is hilly and a good base if you want to explore the South Downs by walking. A good range of restaurants, pubs and cafes too.Guest review bypilly03United Kingdom - 10.0

Spotlessly clean room. Easy to book in. A longish walk to our room and a lift was available to take us down to the right corridor. Staff helpful in both bar and restaurant. We dined in the restaurant Food excellent and not over priced. Happy atmosphere. Uckfield town was busy there is plenty to do and see in the areaGuest review byBrendaUnited Kingdom - 4.0

Battle is a pretty little town and very compact.
Battle is a pretty little town and very compact. The Abbey and battle ground is good to see as it is a major part of this country's history. However, if you opt to walk around the battlefield make sure you make use of the free audio guide as this brings the history to life as opposed to just looking at a field. The Abbey/battlefield and town can be done in a day, but it is a good idea to have an overnight stay so that you can pace yourself and fully enjoy the place.Guest review byPantelisUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A sweet little village shop full of fresh fruit and basics.
A sweet little village shop full of fresh fruit and basics. The village itself set in a beautiful part of the country, Eric Ravilious views everywhere. A range of pubs, some discreet luxury hotels now, some just relaxed medieval inns full of beams and cosy nooks. Independent, upmarket shops. Surrounded by walks and ancient churches, like St Michael's & All Angels at Berwick, which is unmatched for its calm simplicity and Bloomsbury artworkGuest review byGlynUnited Kingdom - 10.0
