For a relatively small country, England certainly manages to pack in a wealth of tourist attractions, from Land’s End all the way to Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Manchester is an amazing city - for business or pleasure. There is a vast selection of restaurants and the shops are fabulous - although not many independent boutiques, all high-street chains. Not a great city for cars, recommend travelling in by train or taxi. Most of the city centre is pedestrianised, which is much safer when walking around. If you're looking for finer dining, head to Spinningfields, or Grand Pacific (stunning restaurant!). If you're on a hen/stag doo, head for Deansgate or Canal Street. If you're partial to Chinese food, head to China Town - there are some amazing restaurants there! If you're looking for an indy/student vibe, head to the Northern Quarter. Trip on the Mersey was value for money £12 for 50 minutes on the ferry. Cavern club well worth a visit, you pay £5 to get in , but live music on . Our hotel gave us a map which was very useful. I love the city, and keep coming back to it, as I become more and more used to it, and find coffee shops and galleries I like to visit. I wasn't very well at the time - with an incipient asthma problem - but the city helped, and the weather was good, mild and bright. I had a tram ride or two, which are a special pleasure, and it's so reasonably priced and comfortable. Visit every year for illuminations and especially world fireworks. Never disappointed. Always visit Umami world restaurant for excellent food at a good price. Again, never disappoints. Newcastle is special.
Newcastle is special. We lie in the North East of England but are so not English. Famous for the following: NUFC Carabou Cup winners 2025. Shearers Bar under, China town and the Irish club just across the way. All very friendly History: The Roman Wall and England's Biggest National Park just north Castles: Lots and a day out in the castle in Newcastle is a trip and a half: historians staff the place and take you on a wee historical excursion Cheap as Chips: We still offer lovely hotel rooms for cost effective prices bacpacking beds for under £20 Camping: England's Best two campsites. Springhill farm in Seahouses and Hadrians Wall campsite near the Sill Nightlife: Theatre, Pubs and nightclubs a foodies paradise Hiking: It's Northumberland !! I lived 25 minutes away from bristol for my entire life until last year, It's absolutely crammed with things to interest a wide range of tastes. Bristol is the UK's most painted city, there's street art everywhere. Fantastic music scene with numerous venues including Bristol Beacon, The Exchange, The Prospect Building, The Marble Factory, O2 Academy, Llloyds ampitheatre on the floating harbour and many more. Great galleries and museums - the Arnolfini is always worth a visit. History - Brunel's Clifton Suspension Bridge; Brunel's SS Great Britain and the replica of the Matthew & Bristol Blue glasswork sat the folding harbour; National trust properties including Tyntesfield House. The hotel is very clean.
The hotel is very clean. Ensure you book the ground floor if you can't make the stairs, as no lift. The staff were very accommodating in this respect, and I had a ground floor room. I didn't have breakfast as I had to leave early to the airport again. The double glazing is amazing - virtually no noise. Although the walls are a bit thin, so you can hear other guests. Staff were very polite and well trained. Beware that the public transport to Terminals 2 and 3 is non-existent. You can get the Pod (great experience) to Terminal 5, and then the underground to the other terminals at Heathrow. The Taxi services are very good - costing £22.00. So don't worry too much. So much to see and do sometimes it was like visiting London The Armouries Leeds museum and Variety theatre as well as white swan bar bistro excellent food and service with 20% off if you show theatre ticket as we did had the best steak I've enjoyed in years fabulous Yorkshire beef. Busy as it was a race weekend. Advise if not there for the races avoid race weekends. Makes it very busy and a little rowdy. The city is beautiful though. So much history, so many landmarks and museums. City Centre is compact and nothing is far away. Great city to walk. Loved The Castle Museum and the walk up the tower in the Minster.
