Beautiful sitting room with a perfect view of the iconic Royal Troon Golf Course and the sea. Very comfortable sectional sofa and a well stocked tea coffee biscuit type set up. The bedroom was also very comfortable, the bed was excellent, in room safe and several USB charging ports in addition to electrical outlets. Bathroom was nice buy a bit small, sink, toilet and walk in shower. Great towels and facecloths toiletries were good but a bit small in quantity for two guests. Breakfast was excellent, made to order plus a continental style buffet. Once again an incredible view from the Rabbit Restaurant while you have your morning coffee.Guest review byRobertCanada

Visited Ayr for a family 80th birthday, so not a lot of time in the town itself. But visited local pub / restaurant the Fox & Willow, great food and surroundings, the staff are great. Had a long walk along the promenade which was lovely and pleasant. Plenty of parking for all vehicles including motor homes.Guest review byStuartUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I love Irvine, the beach is beautiful and you have facilities there as well which is perfect, especially if you are taking children. I love the wee cafes along Harbour street but my favourite is Small Talk, love this cafe. The home baking is delicious! They also have a gluten free selection of cakes. I highly recommend you try this wee place. You have everything you need close by, its such a beautiful place.Guest review byKellyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This was just an overnight stop on our way to Islay from Glasgow - we took an afternoon bus to Tarbert and got private transport to Kennakraig ferry terminal the morning after. The town was lovely, with a nice castle and a couple of good restaurants as well as a pub with plenty of whisky options. We might have even stayed a bit longer had we known it was such a lovely place.Guest review byManuel E.Poland - 10.0
Prestwick is really nice place to visit.
Prestwick is really nice place to visit. No 9 retreat is in a perfect place to walk to the shops and eating places. The beach was great plenty of parking. The private parking at no 9 retreat is a huge bonus.Guest review byMargaretUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Lovely beach and promenade.
Lovely beach and promenade. Excellent selection of coffee shops and restaurants. Very friendly helpful staff in all shops and cafés. Great pitch and putt on seafront suitable for whole family. Several play parks on promenade with good equipment.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 6.0
Rothesay is a dump.
Rothesay is a dump. And I say that as someone who used to live 2 miles up the road. But you don't go there for the town. You go their for the sea and the beaches and the views. All of which aren't in Rothesay. In the winter it's really only Ettrick Bay that's accessible unless you have a car. But in the summer take advantage of the hop-on, hop-off bus tour which gets you to some really interesting places. Not many places to eat out in the evening, so be prepared.Guest review byStuart HamiltonUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Regular ferries.
Regular ferries. Lots of catering and pubs and quirky shops. Beautiful old churches and regular activities in the Castle House museum and the Burgh Hall. Swimminig, cinema, supermarkets. Lovely nature trails, walks and climbs within walking distance of town centre.Guest review bySTEVENUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Largs in beautiful for the views.
Largs in beautiful for the views. Going over too the island takes just a few minutes on the ferry and definitely worth a visit as its stunning. Fish and Chips from Fish works is the absolute best!! If you love haggis, try the viking chip shop for amazing battered haggis. Lots of different shops fro gifts and lots of charity shops if you like hunting for bargains. Beautiful little sweet shop too on the High Street. We went for the Viking Festival and although it was good, I don't think you need to spend the money on the tickets too see the burning of the boat because by the time you have got through the crowds too the ticket area the boat has already been burnt. Food and drinks at the festival stores are expensive but delicious. There are loads of market stalls there too selling all homemade items and cakes etc. The viking village is worth a visit too if that's your thing. Largs its self is lovely on a quite day. There is a large morriosns store within a few minutes drive from the centre or there is also coop and tesco express stores in the town centre. Largs is perfect from exploring that part of Scotland as lots too see within a short drive. I'm not sure about family activities as I don't have children.Guest review byKayleighUnited Kingdom - 10.0
This was our fifth stay at the fabulous Seamill Hydro.
This was our fifth stay at the fabulous Seamill Hydro. Sometimes we have travelled as a couple, sometimes with an elderly parent. We find the hotel to be superb in terms of comfort, cleanliness and value for money. The view across to the Isle of Arran is stunning and the food, both at breakfast and evening meal, is exceptional. The staff at the hotel are amazing and it's nice to see familiar faces when we return. A special mention to Blythe and Amanda on reception and to Rachel, John and Callum from the restaurant for their friendliness and excellent customer service.Guest review byJohn McLarenUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Helensburgh is a nice little town on the Firth of Clyde, so...
Helensburgh is a nice little town on the Firth of Clyde, so it has a pretty waterfront and a seaside feel, although it is on a river. It is ideal in many ways, as the trains go frequently to Glasgow and even to Edinburgh if you are so inclined. But it is also very near Loch Lomond, only 20 minutes drive and also ideally placed to drive around the peninsulas and lochs of Argyll and Bute. We managed a day trip to Bute to see Mount Stuart which was great, although a long drive, but worth it. There are some very good restaurants in Helensburgh, we liked La Barca Spanish restaurant and also the Vintage Inn pub The Commodore. The pavements are flat and well maintained, great for pushing wheelchairs(like us) or buggies.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom
