I wanted a typical establishment to spend our last day of vacation in Scotland. It was perfect with all facilities: restaurant, pub, hotel, breakfast. I recommend the breakfast, really typical and fine quality with a choice for all kind of requirements.

Ideal for our overnight, close to the town centre, pubs, restaurants, and takeaways. Contacted the owner to ask a few questions and was answered promptly. Nothing was an issue. I would definitely go back.

The cottage was immaculate, spacious rooms with plenty of towels and blankets. Hot tub and fire area were excellent, lovely views. The host was available for any issues, not that we had any. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully be back!

My husband and I decided to visit Scotland for NY. We stayed 29th Dec to 2nd Jan. What a lovely stay. The minute we walked through the door we were made to feel welcome by Lewis. We had a deluxe room... absolutely immaculate and very comfortable. Every evening we went to the bar. All of the staff were chatty and attentive. .. notably Lewis, Kris and Chico. We had a wonderful NYE. Lovely, lovely locals, fab band, pipers and fireworks. Even though it was busy, the staff were still wonderful. We will definitely stay again. A huge thank you for a fantastic stay... especially to Lewis and Kris!

The hotel was quite nice. The staff were very helpful in arranging a second nights stay. Book the superior room, water view if you can, it's worth it. Breakfast was lovely and the breakfast room was very pleasant. Location great for trips around Loch Lomond and great access to Helensburgh, which is a lovely small town.

Helensburgh is a nice little town on the Firth of Clyde, so it has a pretty waterfront and a seaside feel, although it is on a river. It is ideal in many ways, as the trains go frequently to Glasgow and even to Edinburgh if you are so inclined. But it is also very near Loch Lomond, only 20 minutes drive and also ideally placed to drive around the peninsulas and lochs of Argyll and Bute. We managed a day trip to Bute to see Mount Stuart which was great, although a long drive, but worth it. There are some very good restaurants in Helensburgh, we liked La Barca Spanish restaurant and also the Vintage Inn pub The Commodore. The pavements are flat and well maintained, great for pushing wheelchairs(like us) or buggies.

Needs more info on parking facilities for guests.

Needs more info on parking facilities for guests. We managed to park across the road from the pub but weren't sure if we could park outside the rooms or not. Breakfast was disappointing in the pub. Wished we had had more time to check out the area but our ferry was delayed so we arrived late. To their credit the chef waiting for us to arrive so we could have an evening meal though.

This is my hometown and I'd brought some friends up from Bristol to do a tour of Scotland starting from here. They found the scenery to be amazing. The town has Rennie Macintosh, Hill House to visit and has also got a lovely promenade to walk and look out on the Firth of Clyde. It's ideally positioned as it has 2 train stations, the lower one to Glasgow/ Edinburgh and the upper one for the West Highland railway. Driving as we were, you are only over the hill to Loch Lomond, The Trossachs, the Highlands or Stirling and Falkirk beyond. Or head up Loch Long, The Rest and Be Thankful to Inverary and the west coast and Highlands. There are good local restaurants to eat at and of course Dino's ice cream!

The Anchor was clean and welcoming. the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Food was tasty and freshly cooked. We did not bother to go anywhere else to eat. It is a good location for exploring the area around Loch Lomond.

Lovely place to visit.

Lovely place to visit. The civic centre was great with a lovely cafe with great food. We ate at an Indian restaurant on the seafront which was great value for money and lovely food. We also had tea and cake at the sugar boat which was nice. We drove around by car which was fine. We also used the taxi service which was good value for money and efficient.

My trip was purely social with engagements in Helensburgh and at local rugby club, so I did not go to any visitor attractions or restaurants over a wet and windy winter weekend even if sun shone on Sunday morning. Take care over crossing road intersections and parking on both sides of the streets in the town-both require driver alertness and awareness ..

I enjoyed the road from Tarbet to Garelochhead and our stay at the Anchor Inn. The spot may not be the nicest but our evening/night was really nice staying at the Anchor Inn after a good walk in the Highlands.
