- From US$198.90 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 1,474 reviewsFirst of all it’s placement at Isle of Mull! This place is amazing, beautiful and as authentic you could wish. Second, the staff did upgrade our room without charging any extra, so we arrived to a suite with an unexplainable view to the sea. So pretty! The Western Isles Hotel made space for us at the restaurant and served a big, great meal. If we should ask for anything here, it would be an bit extra heat, but with the heat from everywhere else this place (generously) it didn’t play that big a role. Thanks for a great stay!Guest review byRenée SelmannDenmark
- From US$151.74 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 139 reviewsVery nice place, the salmon for dinner is very good. BUT BEWARE!! Don't trust Google Maps or Apple Maps: the hotel is 300 meters straight from the port; I was on a bike and had to do the mountain grand prix twice (there and back) because the GPS sends you to the other side of the island, to The Colonsay Apartments, even if it is indicated as The Colonsay Hotel. The photo is what the GPS says, but the hotel is close to the start.Guest review byPaoloItaly

Really liked Portree and the people in the shops/pubs in general were great fun. Just did the shops and the ‘lump’ on our full day there and we were incredibly lucky with the weather. The helpful tourist information lady also provided us with details of a short local bus ride of the top of the island if the weather hadn’t been as good.Guest review byannUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Broadford is well located to travel across all Skye, but also not too far from the bridge of Skye to reach back to mainland. It has a supermarket and some restaurants. A walk on the shore is beautiful.Guest review bySimoneSwitzerland - 8.0

Stornoway is a busy wee town full of independent shops. I particularly like An Taigh Ceilidh where you are encouraged to practise your Gàidhlig. Only downside there are a few one-way streets which are confusing / frustrating if you don't know where you're going.Guest review byHallinan - 8.0
Picturesque fishing town definitely worth a visit.
Picturesque fishing town definitely worth a visit. Access from the ferry port is via narrow roads with passing places. Numerous walks especially enjoyed the trail to the lighthouse. Distillery and cheese factory are a must. Good restaurant and art at the gallery on the seafrontGuest review byLesUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Whilst Pennygate Lodge is a lovely guest house we found Craignure a very drab functional place. We might have been better staying in Tobermory though the available accommodation there was not as good. Two storms approaching from the west starting with torrential rain did not help make our visit to Craignure very pleasant. Close to ferry of course which is a positive. However nearby Duart Castle well worth a visit.Guest review byJanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Port Ellen is perfect for whisky lovers.
Port Ellen is perfect for whisky lovers. There are many great distilleries in walking distance (Port Ellen, Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig and soon another one) and many more by bus or taxi (but taxis are sometimes hard to get and there is no Uber available).Guest review bySilvioSwitzerland - 10.0

Dunvegan was quite central to travelling across Skye for our various planned activities - whisky tour, puffin tour, walking Quiraing, Fairy Pools and Old Man of Storr. The two shops had enough for the grocery essentials and there were several cafes and restaurants to provide choice. The castle was interesting though a bit pricey.Guest review bySuzieAustralia - 6.0

We stayed at the caravan purely to facilitate an early morning ferry to Harris. We had fish and chips from the local takeaway which were very overpriced for what they were. They’re clearly taking advantage!Guest review byGrahamUnited Kingdom - 10.0

A trip here needs time to enjoy the environment around and at the hotel. It is not very near a large town but a village is not far away. But that also makes it special. Make sure to get there during daylight as the roads leading to the hotel are not highways. The food was delicious and well proportioned. We wanted to stay there for longer.Guest review byRandyAustralia
