- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 75 reviewsThis is a pure gem! Spacious, clean, comfortable and so tastefully decorated space! Differently from other rented places in Veli Rat Amarcord Skola provides outside shade casted by the trees rather than parasols. It has a generous decking space which I used for afternoon yoga. You can sit outside in a lovely shade hearing the gently rocking boats on the other side of the road. You also do not need to go all the way to any beach but instead dip into the water just across the road too! There is an outside shower to rinse off which is very refreshing! I stayed at Amarcord Skola for 5 nights, loved it and would like to come back. It is accessible by a ferry and a bus (yes, there is a bus!). You take a ferry from Zadar to Brbijn and from there you will have an option to take 201 bus operated by Liburnija (liburnija-zadar.hr). The bus leaving time is synced with the arrival time of the ferry which is very convenient. You can return the same way. This saves you going to Bozava (which is only 6km away from Veli Rat), but is not serviced by the bus that well as Brbijn. At the Amarcord Skola you can have breakfast at an additional cost or get something in the morning from a near by shop (yes, there is a small village shop 2 mins away on foot). Although not extensive, but you have options for dinner within the vicinity too. I didn't have any means of transportation and felt the distances to the nearby beaches were walkable. I preferred a bit of slow down pace, the sounds and the smells of the nature while walking at the countryside. The place and the village are very peaceful, not overcrowded.Guest review byGintareUnited Kingdom
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.1Very good - What previous guests thought, 374 reviewsThe hotel is in an amazing location. There is a lovely beach bar just below the hotel on the way to swim, which is a relaxing place to hang out. Staff there are friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to sit in the shade whilst swimming in the water although it does get busy. It’s in a really lovely bay which the sun sets in and only a few minutes from the harbour. The hotel is a good choice for somewhere to stay. The beds are comfortable. The shower and air con work well and there is a mini fridge in the rooms. All rooms have balconies. Our rooms were clean and well presented. I think it is somehow the bed covers which makes people rate this hotel down. There was really nothing to fault with our rooms and the location is superb.Guest review byAnnaUnited Kingdom

A small village with everything you need.
A small village with everything you need. We went to beaches all over the island. The advantage of Sali is the nearby national park Telascica. There was also an exceptional restaurant in Sali called Garoful. I highly recommend a visit.Guest review byTomas_RCzech Republic - 10.0

Little village full of nice people that are greeting you every time they see you. 2 stores, Studenac is well equipped. Nice beaches, enough space for everybody, so you feel like there is nobody with you. Super clean and clear sea, beautiful blue and green colors. 4 restaurants, all kinds of food for everybody. A lot of cats 😊 Super calm place for vacation without any compromise.Guest review byMaja J.Croatia - 8.0

As much as Luka is very Tourist dependent, it has a rich culture of locals who return for the summers. This makes it a very Croatian village with a ton of charm. Eat at the Konoba (really good food!) or at home (the village market has a reasonable selection and better prices than the nearest grocery store), swim anywhere, bring a book - the internet and cell coverage is spotty - and relax!Guest review byKalenGermany - 10.0
Zman and other small villages on the island of Dugi Otok...
Zman and other small villages on the island of Dugi Otok were the perfect getaway from the busy city life. Nature all around. Local slow village life. You need to rent a car to get around comfortably around the island. We mostly made our own food in the apartment.Guest review byMarieIndia - 8.0

A lovely village with a small grocery shop, marina (renting bicycles and scooters), two restaurants and good paths for a stroll. Both the lighthouse and the Sakarun beach are within a walkable distance.Guest review byGintareUnited Kingdom - 8.0
A small village slightly descending to the harbor.
A small village slightly descending to the harbor. It has 2 restaurants - Gorgonia and Branco and one small grocery. In near proximity there is a nice small camping Madarino also with a good restaurant. The location of Verunić is good for exploring the northern tip of the Dugi Otok island. All the sea around this village is rather sheltered from the outer ocean so it is coinvenient for swimming and paddleboarding. All interesting sites (Sakarun beach, the lighthouse...) are within few kilometers by car or bicycle and you need not to conquer steep slopes. Of course, to get there you need to take a ferry Zadar (Gaženica) - Brbinj (approx. 1.5hrs) and then drive some 15km North. So this is extra cost/time to the trip and you need to adjust to the timetable. In high season it might be practical to pre-book the ferry at jadrolinia.hr.Guest review byPetrCzech Republic - 10.0
Sali is probably the best base to use on the island.
Sali is probably the best base to use on the island. It has a ferry to Zadar three times a day, loads (maybe 5 or 6) restaurants, a sizable supermarket and quite a few cafe's and taverns. It also has a helpful tourist office where you can rent cars or scooters, although these are not cheap. The only petrol station on the island is in the next village about 4kms away. Talascia NP is a 5 minute drive away from the town and well worth a day trip. All the beaches are shingle and aren't really beaches, just little coves. The very best is half way up the island and directly across on the opposite side of the island to Brbinj. Very difficult to find without google maps set to satellite mode which shows the actual concrete access road. A one hour drive will take you the full length of the island.Guest review byWilliamIreland - 8.0
Quiet coastal village with harbour on Dugi Otok.
Quiet coastal village with harbour on Dugi Otok. Has 3 reasonable restaurants, 1 shop, 2 hotels and a daily passenger ferry from Zadar. It is only about 2km across the island to sandy Sakarun beach and other nearby places. There is also a daily bus that connects Bozava with Veli Rat and Brbinj that has a car ferry to Zadar. Getting around the island is a bit limiting unless you hire a car on the mainland and bring it over on the ferry.Guest review byColin AyersUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Very nice, cozy place.
Very nice, cozy place. We ate dinner couple of times in Cookhouse & Bar GAROFUL. It is nice place to have a meal with beautiful sea view. From Sali it is very easy to get to other part of the Long island, and to organize nice boat trip to Kornati national park and Telascica nature park. All in all, I was quite impressed with Sali and Long island in general with all that beauty and big blue I saw around. It is worth of visiting at least once in your life time. Strongly recommended! :-)Guest review byAndreaCroatia - 10.0
Dober dan! We had such a wonderful stay in Bozava!
Dober dan! We had such a wonderful stay in Bozava! The staff was wonderful, the breakfast was exceptional, the rooms were nice with a beautiful view of the sea and the village. The beds were very comfortable, clean room and the grounds were very well maintained. The restaurant's in the village were quaint with exceptional menus, food and service. The people in the village were kind and welcoming and we are already planning a return visit. The church service on Sunday was divine. The tour around the island was breathtaking. This visit exceeded all my expectations of my first of many visits to the island of Dugi Otok! Well done Bozava! What a gem!! Magnifico!Guest review byNancyUnited States
