- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 172 reviewsHad a lovely stay in the Bell tent, nice little park on site for the kids, great cooking and shower facilities and the place was spotless. Instant hot water, help yourself to plates, cups,, bowls, cutlery! Fab little set up of tables and chairs to have your meal at if you like. Fridges and cupboard space to store your food, people had large lunchboxes with their bits in them. Toilets and showers were so clean. Rubbish bins all around, bbq area on site also. Little tv room and a laundry room. Absolutely everything you need. Margaret and Lisa were a pleasure to deal with, extremely helpful. Lovely area, castle grounds nearby, pubs/restaurants afew minutes drive and a fabulous forest with a lake to go swimming a short drive away. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for a lovely stay.Guest review byAllanaIreland

There are lovely forest paths behind Cong Abbey that we enjoyed. It was fun to go into the pub/restaurant that was used in the old movie The Quiet Man. A lot of it was filmed in Cong. We really enjoyed John Burke’s Restaurant in nearby Clonbur. It was recommended by our host!Guest review byCarolynUnited States - 10.0
Great little town, friendly and welcoming.
Great little town, friendly and welcoming. Lots of history, beautiful park and marked walk around the town. Free parking with plenty of space. Grocery store, butchers coffee shops, gas station, selection of great pubs and souvenir shops amongst others in the high street. Super little place.Guest review byLorraineCanada - 8.0
Initially looking for a place near Galway.
Initially looking for a place near Galway. The website seemed to suggest that the accommodation was within a reasonable distance. It took us another 40 mins to get there after passing through Galway, so somewhat disappointed. Nothing at the accommodation within walking distance apart from stunning views and very warm, friendly hosts. The nearest places for dinner were Moycullen or Oughterad. We went to the latter, a 20+ minute drive through narrow country lanes… well aren’t they all? Lovely meal at the Powers Thatch. Friendly, welcoming people. All in all, missed out on Galway but had a very relaxing evening back at the accommodation watching the sun set. Beautiful.Guest review byTiger 32Australia - 8.0

Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks.
Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks. This was a self catering cottage . We loved making our own meals. There was a lovely little bakery where we bought a selection of breads, all very yummy. We found a couple of nice cafes in Cong, not too far from Clonbur that served delicious coffee and scones. There is an easy walk from Chonbur to Cong.Guest review byCollette - 10.0

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!Guest review byRobertUnited States - 10.0

Hasn’t changed since childhood holidays 48 years ago! People still very friendly and welcoming. Love the quick wit and sense of humour. Great village-style choice of pubs, food shopping, restaurants and gift shops. Sense of a real and supportive community. Everyone flexible and willing to help. Easy access from village to multiple sports and beautiful views.Guest review byAnderleyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friendsGuest review byursulaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
