It is all about the hills you climb through Car, Bikes and JEEPS. there are few waterfalls that makes you amaze your day especially kemmenagundi falls were really good. you can spend two days without boring in chikmangalur. Superb place showing the Golden era of Vijayanagar empire. So many things to see. We stayed for 2 full days and explored a lot. Could have been 2 days more. August is a right month. Not much rain and greenery all around. Temps in the range of 25 to 30 degree celcius. Advisable to engage a guide atleast for one full day for better exploration. Other days can be easily done on your own with the help of map. One can walk around or can take vehicle to main spots. Worst staff. Rude. There was no person manning the reception. After waitig for 15 minutes when we rang up we were told to wait for some more time as the person has gone for lunch. Believe it was 4.20 P.M. We were also told to look for alternative acvomodation if cant wait.in a rude tone. We did go to a decent hotel at a much cheaper rate and in a decent locality in the heart of Mangalore. Never agai offer me this hotel in future . The location is good, distance to temple is just 2km. The concept of cottage is good for family, has good parking and greenery around. There is no proper furnishing, looks like all the old remaining items are gathered and set! broken rod curtains etc. The Owner was demanding for advance payment in spite of booking in tool as no advance payment. I travelled there for work. Its a really nice place. Kozhikode to Bangalore bus went through wayanad, a tiger reserve, Mysore (and Mysore palace). The weather was pleasant. Auto drivers are good and try speaking a mix of Hindi - English to make you understand what they mean. I also visited Orion Mall. Again, it was a short business trip.
