I went to Rishikesh with an open mind to witness the might of the Ganges River, see the temples and join my wife in the participation of the Aarti Ceremony. There are the local habits, roving animals and crazy traffic that may annoy a lot of visitors. But I chose to rise above those and focus on the rituals, temples, monuments, daily activities, Ashrams (retreats) and the view of the Rishikesh valley. The flow of the Ganges and the 3 cable bridges (Ram Jhulla, Lachman Julla, and Janki Jhulla), and the chanting with the ceremonies in the evenings were mesmerizing, humbling and a joy to the soul. Reach Mall-road from Library chowk before 5 PM, so that you can pay the fee and enter and park your car inside Mall-road. The paid parking inside is better. The paid parking outside Mall-road is very far and prices are insane. Be careful while you shop, you have to bargain hard!
