Very clean rooms, everything brand new renovated , brand new quality beds, pillows and duvets, towels. All the facility were clean, the shared bathrooms had amazing views and good showers. Always enough papers, trash always emptied. Kitchen had everything you need very spacious and clean. We met the hotel manager Lilja she was amazing , she told us history about the place , very easy to reach staff on site. Lilja was more then welcome and educated about the place and herself well traveled around the world. She showed us the old historic elements of the houses. The stay there was so peaceful and homie. This will be a place we will come to again without a question. We had the most amazing time there and there is nothing negative to say about our stay. Amazing environment there and energy was unmatched. What the owners and facility is doing with the place is amazing and inspiration to mix the new with old. Thank you for the best couple of days we will be back. Edda & Shpend

Very lovely chalets, reminded me of alpine wood huts. Very comfortable and cozy although they might get a little cold during winter months. But enough blankets and heating possibilities were provided. Very nice owner who was totally helpful and offered us different rooms upon arrival if we would not be satisfied. All in all a great, although short stay.

Hotel framtid exceeded our expectations. Beautifully situated with a view of the small harbor of Djúpivogur. The staff who run both the hotel and the restaurant are always on hand with impeccable service. The rooms are nice and spacious. The bathroom is hygienic and the shower works great! The dishes in the restaurant are delicious. Then we are not even talking about the breakfast, which is one of the best we have had in Iceland, wide selection of bread, spreads ... all the trimmings. Congratulations!

The hotel is located on the fjord, the view from the windows unforgettable. Room very comfortable and bigger than I expected, beds very comfortable. From the hotel there is an underground passage to the restaurant, very interesting, with wax figures representing history. The restaurant where breakfast was served was beautiful, with a terrace facing the pier overlooking the fjord. The breakfast was very good, fresh local produce and finally bread that is not "toast" :)

Everything! EVERYTHING! The location has been so mindfully designed, people are amazing, the Menü in the restaurant is small, but delicious, the breakfast is truely hand-selected and home-made, the puffins, the hot tubs and saunas … and all of this for a very descent price! If I ever get back to Iceland (I hope I will), I‘ll make sure to plan at least another night here. thanks to the whole the team, we appreciate your effort.

A nice town with plenty to do in the surrounding area.

A nice town with plenty to do in the surrounding area. During our stay, we got pizza from Askur Pizzeria, which was phenomenal, especially after a long day of travel. The main reason we chose to stay here was because we wanted to see the puffins at Borgarfjarðarhöfn, and hike the waterfall circle. Egilsstaðir was a perfect central location for us to see everything we wanted to in the area, and then some. The Netto nearby allowed us to get whatever we needed for our stay. We skipped the Vok baths, as one in our party was pregnant, and she could not enjoy the hot waters. We would definitely stay here again.

I love this little town. To me, it is a perfect stop for a night if you are driving the entire ring road. That area from Djupivogur to Höfn, and just beyond in either direction is some of THE prettiest landscapes in Iceland, in my opinion.

A welcoming off-the-beaten-path simple youth hostel, ideal for a short stay while exploring Iceland. Though some features show their age, the space is clean, comfortable, and well organized. The true highlight is the cosy kitchen and dining area, offering a stunning view of the fjord — a perfect spot to unwind and take in the scenery.

Our one-night stop turned into two due to a heavy storm. The hotel handled the situation very amenably. Good food in the hotel and also at the café and village shop in Breiddalsvik itself, which is about 5 km away. Fantastic scenery all round. Motor museum and brewery in the village with the opportunity to go for horse rides directly from the hotel.

Firstly - the road to the area has recently been sealed and is EXCELLENT. Many older reviews mention the horrid mountain gravel track that is no more (and it would have been bad especially in inclement weather). There are a huge number of hikes from a few hours long to a few days that can be done in the area and if you really want to explore and get the most out if it stay a few days at least, especially if the weather turns. I did see a little camp ground and there are several accomodation options. For the photographers and bird watchers out there there is plenty to keep you occupied. And no review is complete without mentioning the puffins :-) They are a few (4 or 5?) km from town proper There is parking up top with a cafe (I did not go in but hubby did as he was cold and sick of puffins - he said it was average to say the least but did have wifi) a short set of stairs down to the little harbour then a short set up on the puffin cliff. If someone is a bit immobile then you can drive (but not park) then down to the second set of stairs. The stairs are a bit narrow and have two wooden walkways up top. I have been to many different bird areas and puffin cliffs and this is simply the most accessible and easy to view, especially for small children/elderly as there is very little effort required in getting to the location and there are burrow within 50cm of the board walk in some cases, on all sides. There is a sheltered bird hide at the end of one walkway. Note there are also Elders breeding here and a vast array of sea birds flying past at al times with feed for their young. Everyone seemed very respectful of others with moving aside to let people pass on the narrow stairs (as there are great vantage points from there)

Stafafell Nature Camp was what I expected. My only suggestion would be for them to trip the shrubs on the trails to the tents as they scrape against your bare legs. Having a clear clear to to your tent would be nice.
