FAQs about hotels in Amalfi Coast
A Feast For the Eyes
Comprised of brightly coloured villages cascading down sheer cliffs, the Amalfi Coast is on the opposite side of a peninsula from Sorrento. Between the UNESCO World Heritage-listed villages are lemon groves and winding roads hugging the coastline that are definitely not for the nervous driver!
In wonderful Positano, delicately positioned houses somehow manage to cling to the cliffs. The next village along is Praiano, on a flatter piece of land and with a 12th-century church. Furore in the hills above a fjord has its own winery.
Amalfi itself is picturesque, as it rises from the harbour to the top of its 13th-century cathedral. As the coast’s largest town, it has a good selection of bars, restaurants and accommodation. Adjoining it is Atrani, a fishing village with a dramatic, beachside road supported by arches.
High above is Ravello whose Villa Rufolo’s landscaped gardens offer magnificent panoramas of the coastline below. Due to its position, this town boasts the Amalfi Coast hotels with the best views and, of course, prices to match. Back at sea level Minori and Maiori have the longest beaches.
Due of all this splendor, you might struggle to find cheap Amalfi Coast hotels, but there is also a selection of affordable apartments and B&Bs on Booking.com, and in any case the fantastic views makes the price well worth it.

- From US$1,375.70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 124 reviewsEverything about Il San Pietro di Positano is exceptional – from the warm, personalised experience provided by the staff to the stunning amenities that make every moment unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and valued; the General Manager greeted us personally, we were offered complimentary drinks, and enjoyed a wonderful tour of the hotel. Our room was beautifully appointed, featuring an incredibly comfortable bed, breathtaking views from our balcony, and exquisite finishes throughout. It exceeded our expectations in every way. Breakfast at Il San Pietro was a dream. The buffet offered an impressive selection of fresh, high-quality options, with something for every taste. From pastries and fruit to local delicacies, everything was beautifully presented and delicious. We especially loved the personalised touch – anything we requested, from perfectly poached eggs to delicate crepes and excellent espressos, was made on the spot. It was the ideal way to start each day, with fresh, varied options and stunning views to match. A standout highlight of our stay was the complimentary boat ride to Amalfi, where we enjoyed a picturesque swim in crystal-clear waters. The hotel’s amenities are equally outstanding, from the scenic outdoor gym and tennis court with a view to the exclusive beach club nestled against the cliffs – each detail truly exceptional. Every aspect of our experience at Il San Pietro was curated to perfection, seamlessly blending luxury with genuine hospitality. From the world-class service to the awe-inspiring setting, this was, without a doubt, the best hotel experience of our lives. We left feeling rejuvenated, pampered, and already planning our return. Honestly, this is the kind of hotel that makes it hard to even want to explore anything outside of it. Il San Pietro is a true gem, and we can’t recommend it highly enough.Guest review byJessicaAustralia
- From US$663.53 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 486 reviewsI'm glad to tell that it was the best place we visited along the Amalfi Coast, and we're planning to return to this fantastic location. It's wonderful to know that it exceeded our expectations. The fact that they were in contact with you even before your arrival and took care of transporting your luggage to the hotel without the need to navigate stairs and paths shows their exceptional service. They truly went above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable. The room with a balcony and a sea view was truly comforting and provided us with some of the best photos we brought back to Uruguay. I don't want to forget to mention the people, starting with Gabriella, the owner, Verónica, and Magda, who assisted us in everything. It was lovely to feel at home, as they paid attention to every detail for us. To make our departure even more special, they allowed us to stay a few extra hours in the room. And as if that weren't enough, in the afternoon, before our taxi arrived, they offered us the opportunity to take a refreshing swim at the beach and use their facilities to freshen up. THANK YOU, POSITANO, THANK YOU, PUPETTO, for having such soul, which is ultimately what we truly value in the beautiful places we visit. We will be back!Guest review byJuan CarlosUruguay
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 441 reviewsPerfect location to explore the Amalfi Coast and to have relaxing days at the sea at the same time. The hotel is placed on a very green rock between Amalfi and Positano. The bus stop is only 1 minute walk and it's next to the famous Fjord of Furore which couldn't n be more close to the hotel. The breakfast is very good, with different homemade sweets, small pizzas, scrambled eggs and very nice coffee. The hotel has a private beach area and you can jump directly into the sea! The staff makes you feel like at home. Many thanks to the owner Luigi, to Luigi the second :), Salvatore and Erica!Guest review byIVA STOYANOVABulgaria

My tuna was as good as the best I've ever had also. Waiting staff were all excellent. Wine was delicious also and Domenico the barman was exceptional. Big thank you to the night porter who found my wife's bracelet left on the bar balcony and safely returned it to us. We did not get a chance to thank him personally before we left. Grazie mille.Guest review byConorIreland

Positano is a total zoo!!!
Positano is a total zoo!!! The alleys are jam-packed with people and lined with shops selling tourist junk. The roads are extremely curvy and hazardous to walk on (shoulders are about 6" wide). Every time I tried to take a bus there were about 4 busloads of people waiting and it was a battle to get on.Guest review byStaciaUnited States - 10.0

Agerola provides an escape from the tourist busy towns on...
Agerola provides an escape from the tourist busy towns on the Amalfi coast. It is higher in elevation than the towns of Amalfi, Positano and Maiori. These towns are port towns and in the busy travel months are always full of tourists. However, there is more to do in these towns than in Agerola, and if you plan to only stay in one of those towns, only go between 2 close towns, spend your vacation time on the beach, then I would recommend to stay in one of the coast towns. If you want a more central point to all of these and other towns (ex. Sorrento, Ravello, etc...) and plan to travel each day to a new town and a quiet place to rest at night, then Agerola is a great place to stay. If you stay in Agerola and since the roads are one lane both ways, you have to factor in travel times to all other towns (in case you need to catch a ferry, have dinner reservations, etc...).Guest review byHarryUnited States - 10.0

Ravello is great for a small group who want a relaxed experience focused around good, scenery, and history. Be warmed there's lots of stairs, the bus isn't always easy to get, and prices can be a bit higher than other towns. There is almost no crazy traffic though, and every view is better than the last. An amazing experience.Guest review byrobertUnited States - 8.0

Lots of ceramic shops selling almost the same items. many good restaurants within walking distance. Arrive by train then take the accensore (elevator) down to the town - the lift-well is lined with blue tiles and fish. Gorgeous. The ferry stops down at the bay and bus 68 takes you up to the town for 1.4euro. Buy the ticket from the ladies in the ceramic shop near the bus stop before you board and validate on the bus.Guest review byPamelaAustralia - 8.0

Perfect location for exploring the Amalfi Coast.
Perfect location for exploring the Amalfi Coast. Half an hour driving to Amalfi, half an hour driving to Positano. For hiking the "Path of gods" you start immediately at the residence. For getting to the "Fiordo" you descend the one thousand stairs just below the apartment. Small market shop and minimarket just near by. Also very good restaurants just near the house.
