The location of the hostel is very convenient, located in the center of the old city, it is very convenient to visit the old city on foot, a full breakfast, a wide variety of fruits, very fresh, the landlord is very kind，The handsome guy at the front desk is very enthusiastic,When we checked in, we were guided to set foot on the viewing platform and had a panoramic view of Matella. The best stay of our trip! Such a special place in the heart of the beautiful Matera. We were warmly welcomed after our taxi ride booked by the hotel. Anne explained us everything about Matera with great recommendations! She showed us to our beautiful room in an old matera house. The hotel has an amazing aesthetic that resonates well with the city. The room was beyond our expectations, and absolutely beautiful and magical! Discovering Matera is discovering human history and since the moment we stepped in Moyseion our historical journey became reality. The concept of Moyseion, unique in its genre, was an experience, starting with the welcome at check/in surrounded by mosaics, the perfumes of ancient essences and spices. We were enchanted by the storytelling of the in/house archeologist who explained us the decor and the meaning of each design piece in the bacheca collection. The room in a minimal design allowed us to fully feel in a time capsule, but with the comforts of the 21 century. The Pool experience is something unforgettable as the breakfast with music and performances while tasting a unique and well studied menu. We loved every second of our time in Moyseion and we want to thank the staff for their welcoming and attention.

We loved absolutely everything about this property. Xavier the Hotel Receptionist attended us with so much care and tried his best to organize activities such as cooking classes for us. The rooms are very carefully designed with so much attention to detail. Don’t miss the cisterns in the Lobby area. Sadly they were not filled with water due to maintenance. Also don’t miss the Pancetta Bread Salad for breakfast and order some Omelets.

Arriving at Matera and parking the car in a recommended garage, we were picked up by a very helpful and friendly staff member (did not recall the name) so we did not have to walk with the bags. He was prompt and very kind. The hotel offered us an upgrade to our room - we had booked the one which is further from the reception. They offered us an amazing room in the hotel itself with a beautiful terrace. We could choose, of course, between the one we initially booked and the one they offered. Both rooms were amazing, however, we took the upgrade. This was the most romantic place we have stayed! Beautiful, authentic, matches the out of this worldly feel of Matera beautifully. Despite it being a cave, it felt luxurious, was spotlessly clean and warm. Every detail of the room was amazing! The balcony and the view - the best in Matera. Too bad we only stayed for one night! The location - again, the best there can be! Breakfast - was yet another exceeds any expectiations matter - a beautiful breakfast room, great variety, and wait for this - live music - the beautiful sound of a harp!!! The thermal pools - wow!!! Not to be missed! Most of all - the staff - we communicated with a lot of staff - reception, the spa, at breakfast and the driver - they were all so helpful, friendly and professional! This is probably the longest review I have written lately, but the place deserves and excellent review, so here it is! If we ever go back to Matera, I would love to book at least 2-3 nights in this same room! Thank you for a special stay!

The place is excellent! In every way! Spectacular location, good service (includes pick-up and drive back to parking as the hotel is in Sassi area and trafic is restricted there), very very good breakfast with local cheese and meats choices. We wished to stay for additional night, but the hotel was fully booked... and no wonder why... very much recommended!

Amazing location with view over one of the main piazzas in Sasso Caveoso. Our room is as partially in a cave. Lovely garden where a great breakfast with scrambled eggs, local cheese, yoghurt, fresh fruit, bread, marmalades and even fresh figs from the trees in the garden. The staff was so nice and helpful.

There were more than enough beds for the three of us at this accommodation. There was also a coffee machine there but couldn't see any coffee pods or coffee powder to make the coffee or how to use the machine, but it was great having it there.

Matara is not to be missed.

Matara is not to be missed. The history is fascinating and dates back to centuries BC. If you enjoy challenging hiking, that's available too! This would not be the best town to explore for someone with chronic pain or disabilities given the many stairs and levels of walking required.
