Beautifully decorated throughout! A quiet stay in the heart of Sulmona. With comfort and luxury at every turn! The host/chef Mariela was so kind, I felt an instant connection with her and she made fabulous breakfasts. The owner Stefania was also very welcoming, thank you! Hope to see you again next time!

The place is very well located in downtown Sulmona. A typical construction with stone walls, clean and comfortable. The owner of the B&B was very nice and friendly at my arrival and gave me good advices about spots to visit near Sulmona. I’m very happy with my stay at “Il Viandante”.

History becomes alive when you stay at Sei Stelle B&B in Sulmona! A great Roman aqueduct greets you as you arrive and as you marvel in its architecture your gaze continues on as you follow the aqueduct and it seems to disappear within Sei Stelle’s walls. It sure goes through the building and inside you’ll find other ruins featured too. Looking out our window, there’s Piazza Garibaldi beckoning us to come down and enjoy the many treats that await. Then of course in the backdrop are the glorious Abruzzo mountains which nestle Sulmona; at first glance looking more like a mirage. With this breathtaking view alone, it’s worth the stay at Sei Stelle. What makes it even more memorable is the interior of the place. Elegant with its high ceilings & old charm amid modern day amenities. The staff are extremely helpful, kind and committed to making sure our stay was both comfortable and special. The very generous & delicious breakfast wrapped up one unforgettable stay. Grazie mille David, Stefania & Melda. ‘spero di tornare un giorno!

Hotel Ede is in the perfect location for exploring Majella National Park. Very clean and comfortable accommodation with plenty of parking, excellent food (we highly recommend dinner - the food was very well done) and very welcoming hosts who speak Italian and English. Really helpful with local excursions too such as trekking and horse riding.

Sulmona ws a really nice, off the beaten path town to visit...

Sulmona ws a really nice, off the beaten path town to visit in Italy. It is the "home" of confetti, candied covered almonds, etc. We were able to tour museum factory where they have made these since the early 1700s. The old town itself is worth touring with ancient churches, many different street vendors, the farmer's market, etc. The town has some wonderful restaurants with authentic local cuisine.

The town is beautiful and green with trees lining the street. It is quiet in town after the Terme was shut down. If you are a hiker though, you landed in paradise. Gorgeous hikes in the Orfento Gorge and surrounding mountains. Also plenty of interesting and beautiful hermitages to explore. The sea is also not far away if the beach is calling. there is at least one good Bar/Coffee shop with fresh croissants and good cappuccino. Also a couple of good restaurants.

Pacentro is a picturesque village nestled on a mountain side. It is a paradise for young children to explore the many pedestrian only alleyways that run through the village. It has retained its quaintness and medieval characteristics and the restored castle tower is a must visit.

The bed was terrible.

The bed was terrible. The old style spring mattress that wa felt while sleeping. Extremely uncomfortable. We asked for 4 blankets to put on top of the mattress but it still was uncomfortable. We didn't sleep for 3 nights. The water flow from the shower very poor, It was trickling not flowing.. At some stages the water switched from cold to hot Shocking....

Caramanico Terme is like many spa towns in Italy - its glory...

Caramanico Terme is like many spa towns in Italy - its glory days ended a few decades ago when the government cracked down on the racket of subsidising holidays in such places through the national health system. So the hotels here have not seen a lot of investment recently. On the other hand their simplicity is matched by their good value. It still has a lot going for it - it is located in a beautiful area in the mountains of Abruzzo, close to the Maiella National Park, and is re-inventing itself as a centre for trekking, canoeing and such things. The old town - downhill from the modern town with its 1960s-era hotels, is picturesque. In the main street you will find a few bars, a couple of restaurants and a "birreria". All those I tried were good. If you want to spend a couple of days walking in spectacular scenery, and don't mind old-fashioned but hospitable accommodation, this would be an excellent place in which to base yourself.

Their always seems an event in Sulmona which makes the visit extra special, the city has numerous restaurants and bars. In addition it has a traditional market on a Saturday with enticing fruit and vegetables. It is in an extremely photogenic part of the country.
