The setting is part of a restored 19th century farm with gardens, orchards, an Enchanted Garden, two stunning outdoor pools - everything designed for total comfort and relaxation in the Sicilian countryside. We stayed 3 nights to explore Siracusa/Ortigia, nearby towns and beautiful beaches. They grow their own organic produce which is served in the restaurant. The room was beautiful, especially the bathroom with Sicilian tiles. We enjoyed our own private patio facing a garden with citrus trees and flowering shrubs. A delightful way to start the day with a morning coffee and end it with a glass of local wine before a delicious Sicilian dinner in their restaurant. Siracusa is an interesting and varied city.
Siracusa is an interesting and varied city. Historically and culturally there are lots to see and explore particularly in the old town area of Ortigia but also at the archaeological park. If you like eating out the variety and quality of restaurants is exceptional and if you like seafood you will not be disappointed! The prices were also very reasonable and you can eat lunch in the street food area of Ortigia ridiculously cheaply but with restaurant quality. A holiday location for adults though or maybe families with older, late teens maybe or older, children as there are really no beaches worth speaking of where younger children could play or swim safely. Beautiful beach and cliffs around the town. Unfortunately not many restaurants and option to eat. The litters are on the beach and no one cares there. Cassibile in itself is a pretty normal town. There are all the amenities one would expect to find - pretty much within walking distance of the property we stayed in. There are some fabulous pizzerias which are worth trying out. The area is about 20 minutes from the main city by car. It is a quiet area with simple reasturants on an undeveloped sea inlet. There are farms and boat yards on the bay. The area does not have many tourists so if you’re wanting to getaway from city life this may suit you. I would say a car is necessary to explore this area. A very interesting city beautifully located on the coast. A wonderful place for people interested in ancient history - it was full of antiquities. Ortigia (walking distance from Siracusa) is very pretty and interesting. Lots of palaces and churches everywhere. A foodie's paradise. The people were very nice. I would recommend the area for a short trip for the beach. In truth, we didn't venture anywhere else other than the villa and the beach as we went there for a change away from the cities we were visiting, but there didn't seem to be a lot to do in the area besides that anyway.
