- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 280 reviewsOn the taxi ride over, you are greeted with a breathtaking view of Tuscan vineyards, and it only gets better from there. We were welcomed by the lovely Andrea, and he helped us get settled in and gave us a tour of the place. Once we got into our rooms, we were in awe of all the decor, and we almost fell asleep immediately because of how comfortable the beds were. Instead, we rested by the pool and got a few cocktails (I recommend the Hugo spritz and the Il Segreto). We were so relaxed, time flew by so quickly. Soon came dinner, and it felt like luxury to have so many courses be presented to you, and they all tasted delightful. The next day, we trekked to San Gimignano, which allowed us to see the beautiful views (or you can take the bus). If you plan to go on a Thursday, I recommend checking if Gelateria dondoli has gelato making classes. Otherwise, I recommend eating some Italian Garden gelato at their store. Be sure to check out the tower and cathedral as well. We were also greeted by the lovely Pedro and Diego during our second dinner, and they have been the best hosts I have ever met. They are so attentive, always willing to help, and if you need any recommendations or directions, they are very resourceful. I recommend asking if there are any cooking classes because we had so much fun making lunch. And I recommend going for the Florentine steak for at least one of the nights because it was one of the best steaks we have ever had. Overall, the staff are amazing, the food and drinks are delightful and the amenities you will love. It was the best part of our trip, and is now my favourite place in Europe. We'll definitely be coming back.Guest review byLorenzoAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.0Very good - What previous guests thought, 88 reviewsIl Poggio is heavenly. The houses are beautifully scattered across the huge property, each with a space outside to enjoy the stunning nature. The owners are kind, friendly and so thoughtful. The four of us (we have 2 girls) loved spending days there without the need to leave elsewhere at all. We played basketball, bocce, tennis, used the swimming pool every single day. The highlight was the view from the window, all the vinyards & the sunsets. Our girls asked if we could live there forever. It was the most relaxing, soul-enriching holiday. The owners welcomed us with wine, coffee, pasta. What a nice touch that we did not have to look for food after arriving. The coffee moka meant so much to a big coffee drinker like me. We saw beautiful nearby Tuscan towns & found brilliant local restaurants nearby & also had a beautiful dinner at il Poggio one evening. Bruna, the kindest, friendliest local dog, made my daughters’ stay unforgettable. We are definitely coming back.Guest review byZUnited Kingdom
- From US$164.22 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 607 reviewsExcellent value for money with a comfortable, private and clean apartment. The location is absolutely stunning and great base from which to explore local Tuscan towns. We appreciated the friendly, professional staff who went above and beyond to ensure we had a relaxing stay. This family-run establishment is well-managed with nice amenities (pool, gardens) and offers amazing food. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the florentine steak dinner was wonderful and deservedly a point of pride (book ahead for this one). We enjoyed the pool, the wine and learning about the wine production on-site with a great cellar tour. Special shout out to Riccardo for excellent hospitality. We look forward to coming back as repeat customers, this place is such a peaceful reprieve from busy city sightseeing. Next time we will be checking a bag so we can bring home more San Donato wine and olive oil. Grazie mile!Guest review byAndreaUnited States

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful - always charming and effort! For group trips we highly recommend the theme nights Antonio offers - the food was very delicious and the house wines excellent! Don't forget to try the house olive oil, it is very tasty. San Gimignano is a medieval town which is very popular with Italian tourists as well as other EU/US visitors. It's like stepping back in time as everywhere is so original and dripping with age. There are plenty of shops selling quality foods, ceramics, fabrics, art, bakeries and even a potter who will make a pot in front of your eyes - in fact everything you can think of! Plenty of nice restaurants from simple pizzerias to Michelin starred will cater for every taste and budget. There are a number of old towers you can climb which will give you a wonderful birds eye view of the surrounding Tuscan countryside, but if you don't want to climb then a leisurely stroll around the ancient streets is a cultural treat.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
I have been to Tuscany more times than I can count.
I have been to Tuscany more times than I can count. This is my first time stopping in and staying in Colle di Val d'Elsa. The location is very close to all the major sites in Tuscany. Volterra and San Gimignano are extremely closeby as well as Chianti. There is a charm to the old town area of Colle di Val d'Elsa, not a ton of tourists like the other sites in the area.Guest review byD. CaronanItaly - 8.0
The apartement was even nicer than pictures.
The apartement was even nicer than pictures. There was oil and a bit of vinegar as well as salt and pepper. It would have been nice to have a few more amenities. The pool looked really nice but we did not have time to take advantage of it. Check in was easy even though we arrived very late at night. Same for the check out.Guest review byPatriciaCanada - 10.0

Fantastic little town with tonnes of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The museum ticket is great value as it gets you into lots of the historic sights. We enjoyed the weaponry exhibit as you were allowed to hold and try on the different artefacts which was cool! We parked nearby and paid with card on exit (only line up at the ticket machine if you’re paying cash). The onsite wine shop (connected to the popular winery near by) was delicious too. Would definitely recommend this town for people to visit and dine at!Guest review byLyndalAustralia - 10.0

Cute little spot, we only stayed there for one evening on our way down to Val D'Orcia from Pisa Airport. The town itself is lovely, we came on a Thursday evening and wandered into the village for a pizza at Happy Days which was great and so tasty, the staff were also lovely. There was also some great karaoke going on at one of the bars which seemed to be locals and some tourists enjoying their evening. It was lovely! Definitely recommend visiting here, there seemed to be lots more lovely restaurants too.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

We used Empoli as a base as the train station offered many possibilities as a central hub. We did however really enjoy a lovely walk in the scenic hills. The center was clean and had a really nice vibe to it and the locals were very friendly. We were also told by a historian that the city had a good museum of art although we didn't have time to investigate further unfortunately due to time.Guest review byBarker - 10.0

Montesportoli was a great location in central Tuscany and has a good road network to reach the popular tourist destinations. There was a large Co-op in the town and plenty of good restaurants in the area. It is a quiet town and is not full of tourists. The views in the area are stunning. If you are looking for a relaxing break and want to do some touring around this is an ideal location.Guest review byJulieUnited Kingdom
