Lovely Italian city.

Much busier than I had anticipated; wish we would have had more time to get off the beaten path and see more of the quieter spots. Did a wine tasting at La Lostra which we highly recommend! Lucca was delightful. It felt calm and peaceful, unlike some other places we visited in Tuscany. Lucca is old and quaint, It is enclosed by city walls which can be walked or cycled. San Gimignano is a medieval town which is very popular with Italian tourists as well as other EU/US visitors. It's like stepping back in time as everywhere is so original and dripping with age. There are plenty of shops selling quality foods, ceramics, fabrics, art, bakeries and even a potter who will make a pot in front of your eyes - in fact everything you can think of! Plenty of nice restaurants from simple pizzerias to Michelin starred will cater for every taste and budget. There are a number of old towers you can climb which will give you a wonderful birds eye view of the surrounding Tuscan countryside, but if you don't want to climb then a leisurely stroll around the ancient streets is a cultural treat.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10
