Everything! Bed was comfortable, hairdryer was great, the staff refilling the fridge with water bottles was a huge plus and the view was great also! The lighting system was very good too, as it could be operated from the comfort of my bed. Shower was also in perfect condition! The staff were very nice to me too and would definitely have contacted me (probably via Booking.com as I forgot to give them my Japanese number once I got the SIM working) had I left my angels, my St. Joseph and San Cristobal cards underneath my pillow on the day I left! Buffet restaurant was absolutely perfect too. Great variety of food to choose from. Definitely recommended to anyone who is looking to stay in Saitama for a while.

Loved this stay, the room was sooooo big. Plenty of room to open your luggages and exercise if you need to. The view was incredible. The bathrooms was luxurious. Loved this midcentury aesthetic stay. About a 10 minute walk to the station, roof protected which is great when its raining, that is also connected to a mall! The best was that the neighborhood was really quiet, you didnt feel the chaotic energy of the city Convenient convenience store at the second floor.

After seeing many castles, shrines and temples in other parts of Japan, the Kawagoe versions were nice, but not that spectacular. Candy Lane was quite unique with narrow streets, old building architecture, but the shop offerings were generally pitched at the tourist rather than celebrating the originality of the district and its genuine traditions passed from older Edo times. We stayed three days - but on day 3 we took a short train ride to Omiya station and the short shuttle service to the Saitama Railway Museum for a day very well spent. Highly recommended for families with young children with many suitable activities and mini-train rides. Take care with the shuttle ticketing - it is easy to buy an expensive "day pass" ticket that does not work in the gate, when there are cheaper tickets for the same ride that do.

This is a great place to visit if you are a bit adventurist and want to experience life in Japan away from Tokyo and other typical tourist locations. Just brush up on your basic Japanese language as English is not spoken in most places. But, if you travel there by the local trains from Narita all train stops are given in Japanese and English. Also, many establishments do not accept credit cards so be sure to carry some Yen with you!

I headed out to Wako from Tachikawa station via Chuo line. I used Google for train directions. It was detailed so I got lost on what stop to get off at. Then transfer directions were not specific for me. I probably will use JR train directions the next time. Luckily I ask a local where I was headed and told what stop to get off at. Then I ask 2 teenagers to help me find my to Wakoshi station. Very friendly people! Without them I wouldn’t make to my destination. 😆

We stayed in Wako only as a stepping stone to visit Kawagoe. This city is where the very old Japanese structures still remain. The streets are lined with restaurants and small shops and filled with tourists. A lot of the tourists were wandering about in Japanese kimonos which are available for rent at many rental places.

I think if you want to also explore the area around Chichibu you should stay for two nights. We only stayed for one and we just got to explore the town a bit (although not so much to see) and then we went to Nagatoro, which we could have spent a bit more time. But I have heard that hiking and just going around the mountainous area around is very beautiful.
