- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 151 reviewsWe had a very spacious room with a beautiful ocean view. We especially enjoyed the complimentary beverage service. The staff was very helpful. Food was very good, but did not offer much in variety if staying multiple days. It's a little out of the way, but there is shuttle service available to Toba Station if you wish to venture off and do some sightseeing. Just be sure to leave and return between the shuttle service hours.Guest review byCarole AnnUnited States
- From US$204.28 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 328 reviewsThe food was excellent with very impressive presentations. We had half-board and the latest breakfast serving was at 8:30, the latest dinner at 18:30. Not much happening in the evening, although the onsens were great. It felt like a spa-resort more than a bustling hotel, but we enjoyed it. We had a traditional room with futons and a lovely sea-view. It was simple but comfortable and clean.Guest review bySella AarrestadNorway

Enjoyed our side trip to inuyama castle - easy to get to by local train. Also a good trip to Atsuta Jingu Shrine. If you take a train on the Meitetsu Nagoya main line and get off at Jingumae station, an entrance to the shrine is just across the road from the station. (Main road, but there are pedestrian crossings). Didn't leave much time to explore Nagoya itself. Did get to Osu mall, which was quite interesting, but a little over-hyped we thought. Area round station itself was good compared with many cities - much more salubrious and more like being in a reasonably upmarket commercial/shopping area. Could certainly have happily spent another full day in Nagoya if our schedule had allowed.Guest review byGaryNew Zealand - 10.0

Great visits possible in this area - the Ropeway (cable car) up into the alps, the Onsen, Hida Village was superb and had loads of additional activities for children, and Takayama was a complete surprise with is bijou shops in the beautiful old quarter. There seemed to be plenty more to do including museums etc.Guest review byKimUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Shizuoka is a hidden gem.
Shizuoka is a hidden gem. You can stay here and get to many sightseeing destinations by rail (day trips) and come back to the relaxation of more laidback location. Locals are very pleasant and friendly, not so jaded by the over tourism of Kyoto and Osaka. We speak very limited Japanese, but were welcomed and managed in small local restaurants and Izakayas.Guest review byMarkAustralia - 8.0
Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us.
Quiet seaside town with no tourists apart from us. Easy to get to from Osaka. Stayed in a traditional ryokan (tattoo friendly). Spent the day walking along the harbour to the ropeway up to Atami castle which had several different art displays and museums including an adults only one and a great view of the coast. Away from the beach things were pretty steep so a car might have been a sensible optionGuest review byBrigidAustralia - 8.0
Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway...
Hamamatsu is a small industrial city located about halfway between Kyoto and Tokyo. It has a number of industrial tourism sites - Suzuki Plaza, esp., and music-related sites - Yamaha Innovation Road and the Musical Instrument Museum. There are a number of Jazz- and Classical-music festivals in the fall, and that is a good time to visit. Lake Hamana is beautiful, and there are a number of interesting temples, shrines, and historical sites like the small but beautiful Hamamatsu Castle. Mostly ignored by Western tourists, but easy to get around, it's charm is in one's ability to visit Japan as it is for those who live there.Guest review byJerome - 8.0
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.
I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.Guest review byMauro Jr - 10.0
One of Japan's six ancient kiln towns.
One of Japan's six ancient kiln towns. If you are into ceramics it's a brilliant place to visit. If you're not, it's a lovely, relaxed town with nice walks and good places to eat. Very close to Nagoya airport. There is a free shuttle bus into Tokoname or use the station. Home of the lucky waving cat - Maneki Neko!Guest review byCerysUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical.
Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical. Gotemba is one of the most significant epicenters for adventure and sightseeing in all of Japan. It is of course an exceptional gateway to hiking and adventuring on Mount Fuji using the Gotemba, Subashiri and Fujinomiya 5th Station traiheads. Hakone-Yumoto onsens/spas and Lake Ashi are also right in the area. Free shuttle buses offer a 20 minute ride straight to the Famous Gotemba Outlets if shopping for 15 hours is what you are in the mood for. Don't forget Odawara Castle just down the way or Fuji-Q and the Fuji Speedway just up the way, to name a few. Gotemba ROCKS! Mount Fuji and the Osunabashiri descending trail are really the #1 world class attraction among many. Furthermore, all the special local people who support all the vast Gotemba opportunities are the best and truly loved.Guest review byBrettUnited States - 10.0
We loved our trip here.
We loved our trip here. Little did I know, I seem to enjoy travelling in a pretty laid-back city and Ise was just perfect for that. If you're craving for a small city experience, out from the other international travelers, I'd recommend Ise for sure.Guest review byRizki Dwi KelimutuIndonesia - 8.0

The 8km trail from Magome was great and there were buses going from the station to take you to the start of that short trail. On the return you could either walk to the train station a short walk from Tsumago or catch a bus back to Magome then another back to Nakatsugawa station. Lots of options and times. A beautiful and picturesque walk.Guest review byFrangapaniAustralia
