The room had the most comfy beds and high quality, eco friendly amenities, and a amazing view of Yamanashi and Mount Fuji. The hotel is very charming and has an ample public bath with many shower heads and the best massage machine I've ever used (¥100 each 5 min). If you plan to visit the nearby Hottarakashi onsen, the staff will kindly lend you towels and schedule a taxi (it cost around ¥3000 the round trip). The host was so helpful and provided us with a very useful map of the area. The accommodation was clean and well thought out- we even had a hairdryer and useful items in the kitchen. The bedding was cozy, heating was good and I slept really well here. The view of Mount Fuji is incredible. We used a car to get around the area, as advised, and this worked well for us. Hokuto is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track destination, perfect for a weekend or even 3 or four days. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place for hikers - since it's located at the base of the Yatsugatake mountain range. The adventurers can go explore the hiking trails and waterfalls, but also there are charming cafes, art galleries and international cuisine restaurants splattered in the area. I would avoid going there by car on a Saturday morning, because the Chuo Express Road gets packed and it may take up to six hours to get there from Tokyo (the normal is 2 hours). Everything about Fujikawaguchiko is just perfect. Nice town, beautiful view of Mt Fuji. For an outdoor enthusiast, this town is perfect. It got mountains, nice enough for day hike. it got caves, lakes, old tunnel turn into a museum, ropeway, halal restaurant. We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect.
