- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 2,174 reviewsWe were picked up from Kawaguchiko train station after asking the tourist office there to call the hotel. The receptionists and all staff were extremely friendly and you felt they genuinely wanted us to feel welcome. There is a lobby, a bar (which we didn't use) and a reading area. The furnishings looked like they were done by an interior designer, very cosy, with an eclectic mix of European paintings in golden frames, views of Mount Fuji, and an Indian wood screen in the restaurant. Yukatas (light Japanese kimono-like robes) were ready on our beds, and from the balcony we could see the lake, although not Mount Fuji because of the foggy and cloudy weather. We had reserved a Japanese dinner in advance (not included, but so worth the added expense) and were overwhelmed by the delicious multi-course meal and its sophisticated presentation in tiny plates of varying colours and shapes. Even with the printed menu provided we were not always sure what we were going to eat, but the helpful staff was always on the ready with explanations. We also took advantage of the private bath on the rooftop which you can rent for 45 minutes for an extra fee, which was absolutely worth it, relaxing in a hot outdoor bath with a view of the starry night sky, juice or champagne included in the price. On the next morning we set our alarm for 6 a.m. and were not disappointed: Mt. Fuji had been invisible the day before, but this morning the view - from our bedroom, from the balcony and even from the shower - was awesome, and we could see the snow-topped perfect cone of the mountain, bathed in the light of the rising morning sun. The breakfast was as excellent as the dinner, both the American and the Japanese option. Since the weather was beautiful we decided to take a later bus back to Tokyo, and the receptionist was extremely helpful in calling the bus company to arrange for a change of ticket.Guest review byKarlAustria
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 147 reviewsExquisite six room hotel in the countryside. Shuttle will pick you up at the station if you are not driving. Quiet, calm - perfect to get away from the hub bub of Japan's big cities! It is a splurge but the rooms are huge and beautiful. There is a private hot spring for the use of guests only - it is outside and the water is truly mineral saturated. We went once before dinner and once in the evening which was magical. Breakfast is included - delicious and served in the bar area or in your room. There is a restaurant next door that is associated with the hotel - "western" themed because of the horse riding vibe and the food was delicious. And finally, the added bonus is the Keith Haring Museum beside the hotel - spectacular building and collection. All in all the Percy was to spend two nights to relax and recharge...which we did.Guest review byEricCanada
- From $197.20 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 1,009 reviewsThey gave me a free upgrade to a huge western-Japanese room with a brand new bathroom, which was amazing. All the staff were awesome. View of fuji was unbelieveable, worth every penny. Didn't have a chance to eat the breakfast/kaiseki, closest convenience store is like 5-10 minutes walk. There are a few restaurants in the area, most close early though, and nothing is spectacular. 25 minute walk from kawaguchiko station if you miss the shuttle, not bad. Mall nearby has a grocery store and misc shopping, feels like it's from the 70s or something.Guest review byAshiqueCanada
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 474 reviewsThe atmosphere of this small village tucked away in the mountains is truly unique. You can feel a soothing calm, especially after visiting big cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka. The lady who welcomed us was incredibly kind — she lent us bicycles for a short ride and recommended a lovely little restaurant that was delicious. When we left, she even drove us to Kawaguchiko Station. Everything was perfect; we’ll definitely come back.Guest review byNathanFrance

2 nights was too long, 1 night would have been plenty. Its easy to get around but the main bus/ train station is crazy busy. Its quite hectic and crowded, allow extra time to make up for the queues.Guest review byMichelleAustralia - 10
I recommend staying.
I recommend staying. I wrote a long review separately which I hope is useful; please refer to that. In addition, for young children, you can visit the sheep shed where they keep the sheep to see sheep up close, wander down and the up the hill behind reception, and get the best tasting soft serve ever from the restaurant!Guest review byDavinosJapan - 10

Lake Yamanaka is such a pretty place - Mt. Fuji never showed her face during our stay for the icon lake photos but it didn’t take away from the magic. The little town just 20 mins away by bus from our domes was super cute, filled with history, culture, and more shopping.Guest review byElizabethUnited States - 8.0

We really enjoyed the place, but it was a bit dead midweek. There were some tourists, but not very many. It was good to have a car to explore. We went to -Kofu Castle Ruins (peak bloom time!) -Yamanashi Fruit Park -Maglev Exhibition Center We ate at -TREE Anthony's Kitchen (AMAZING Greek Food) -Kaosen Thai (eh)Guest review byPena - 10

Hokuto is a bit of an off-the-beaten-track destination, perfect for a weekend or even 3 or four days. Surrounded by beautiful nature, it's a great place for hikers - since it's located at the base of the Yatsugatake mountain range. The adventurers can go explore the hiking trails and waterfalls, but also there are charming cafes, art galleries and international cuisine restaurants splattered in the area. I would avoid going there by car on a Saturday morning, because the Chuo Express Road gets packed and it may take up to six hours to get there from Tokyo (the normal is 2 hours). So if you can, go on a weekday.Guest review byVillageOneJapan - 8.0

We stayed for just one night to have the amazing view and cheaper hostel prices. One night in yamanakako, one night in kawaguchico, is perfect. Yamanakako is quieter and less touristy, which is exactly what we wanted. However, the bus schedule limits how many places you can go cuz they come every 1 hrGuest review byLiCanada - 10

If you are looking to escape from tourist areas and visit the country side of Japan? Then this place is it! There is hot springs everywhere and it is near Mt Fuji so tons of mountains around. Incredibly serene and quieter than areas like Hakone. ( Hakone is VERY beautiful but tons of tourist)Guest review byElianaUnited States
